It is very heavy, made of cast bronze with a gold coloured covering. This is the highest from of style and function. This is a good quality item. The light works but the fitting will need to be rewired/checked to comply with local electrical standards, it complies with European standards. This chandelier is in working order. The bulb fittings are compatable with 240V electrical supply which covers most of the world including the UK and Australia.  If you live in a country that has 110V electrical supply which includes the USA and Canada all you need to do to convert the lights is ask an electrician to replace the bulb holders when he is fitting the lights.
