Les cycles Libéria, basés à Grenoble et actifs de 1918 à 1996, ont notamment équipé plusieurs équipes professionnelles de 1956 à 1990. Le nom de la société évoque la liberté retrouvée à la fin de la première guerre mondiale, en hommage à ce pays d'Afrique qui accueillait les esclaves noirs de retour d'Amérique sur leurs terres d'origine. Le vélo date de 1986 et est dans un état neuf, avec de très minimes signes d'usage. Il se compose d'un très beau cadre Reynolds 501 avec arrière entièrement chromé et raccords Bocama Professionnels ajourés et peints, et d'un équipement haut de gamme, dont le groupe complet Shimano 600 6207. Liberia Cycles was a famous french brand established in Grenoble (french Alps) from 1918 to 1996, that equipped several professionnal racing road teams from1956 to 1990. The name of the company is a tribute to this west Africa country who took in former black slaves from USA after WW1. The bike dates back to 1986 and is in mint condition,as it just came out of the store, with very minor signs of use. Only the spokes show some oxidation. It has a beautiful Reynolds 501 frame with full rear chromed and Bocama Professionnal cut lugs, and it's equipped with high end parts such as the full Shimano 600 6207 groupset. It's surprisingly ligh weight with 9,565 kg (measured with digital hanging scale without pedals), regarding the rigid rods tires and the « heavy » Mundialita saddle (400 gr). However, a rare, superb and original french vintage racing bike ! Feel free to ask any question or for additionnal photos! The quality of its bikes was world-known during its industrial golden age, between the '30s to the '90s. Then the company decided to focus on car production. It’s estimated that this bike was produced during the early '80s.   Abyss has a very original aesthetic. A very deep appearance, sea blue and black. It's a dive in the deep waters. A chrome fork and some silver elements to help you find your way in the depths. Its black and blue competition wheels have a very crazy spoke type! It’s sure that you will be in your element... like a fish to water! ​ I completely disassembled and cleaned the bike. I applied a polish cleaner. I greased, revised and adjusted all the elements.
