Nearly 5 frames per second without an external motor or battery pack was uncommon for its day, coupled with the four-sensor autofocus system that could continuously track not only horizontally but vertically and diagonally—even when an object came towards the camera. The autofocus system could focus at light levels of −1 ev and up to 19 ev (at ISO 100). It also used a 14-segment light metering system, variations of it being used for many years in most Minolta cameras. It featured a 1/300 of a second x-sync flash synchronization with stepless shutter speeds from 1/12000 of a second to 30sec in Program and Aperture Priority mode.[1] A mechanical shutter this fast is still to this day[when?] uncommon. The 9xi had many other abilities, many perhaps hidden at first sight. The camera could, without any external backs like the Minolta 9000 or cards like the Minolta 8000i, bracket 3 exposures each one 1/2 a stop different (each way). Together with the sphere microphone KFM 360 and two bidirectional compact condenser microphones CCM 8L, it forms a compact 5.1 surround recording system with excellent spatial imaging capability. The processor derives the six 5.1 surround channels from only four microphone signals (the two pressure transducers in the KFM 360 plus two figure-8s) and offers a wide range of selectable settings. Minolta Dynax 5 35mm film SLR with Minolta 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 D zoom lens, with front cap. Sold for parts or repair as it has some faults.  This camera kit is in good external condition, with some general signs of use. When checked with batteries (not included) the camera turns on, fires well and appears to operate normally. However the function dial on the front is not working properly. It's stiff to operate, sometimes it turns easily, sometimes not. It works, but it can be quite difficult to use. The viewfinder and focusing screen have quite a few dust spots. The mirror and lens mount are good, with minor signs of use, the film chamber is clean and the shutter looks OK. The lens is in good external condition, with light signs of use. There are mildew spots and specks of dust on the internal glass. The iris blades are free of oil and snappy, the zoom and focus barrels move smoothly. The focus works well in manual or auto modes, and it looks sharp through the viewfinder. Soligor Tele-Auto 135mm f2.8 manual focus lens, Miranda mount, with front and rear caps. Untested, sold for parts or repair. This lens is in very good external condition, with some light signs of use. The little lever sticking out of the side of the lens mount is quite loose, it looks like it needs to be tightened up. The glass is clean and unscratched, with some light signs of use, and a few internal specks of dust.
