The game is large in size The king is 9.4 cm high Board measures 71 x 51.8 x 6.3 cm The set is in very good condition, remarkably well preserved, the pieces are almost flawless and, most unusually, still have all their glass eyes. There's no damage to the pieces, apart from two insignificant scratches visible at the end of the photo series. The board is also in good condition, with just a few marks and signs of age-related wear and tear, as you can see from the photos. Its interior is also suitable for backgammon, and it still has its original pawns and cups to play with. The pieces are made from Jura boxwood, turned and carved by hand before being polished and varnished. Jura boxwood is recognizable by the shades of color, from beige to brown, that form swirls on its surface. It is a wood species with properties and appearance ideal for chess pieces. You can recognize the value of a Regency set by the degree of finish on its knights, the only carved piece while the others are turned. And as you can see, this set has very sophisticated, finely crafted knights, featuring nasals, glass eyes, mouths with individually sculpted teeth, ears and even a figurative mane made of subtly arranged ridges. The nuances between the 4 knights also show that they were indeed sculpted by hand, one by one - in those days there were no machines to build them and everything had to be done by hand. For shipping, everything will be protected and immobilized with bubble wrap, and the corners of the board will be reinforced with polystyrene foam dowels. En savoir plus Collaboration commerciale.
