This brooch was created by the famous Talleres de Los Ballesteros. They began their illustrious metalsmithing tradition in Iquala in 1937 and shortly thereafter moved to Taxco, Mexico. This exquisite figural brooch was handwrought circa the late 1950s and features an exceptional bezel set carved tuquoise face. The amethyst is a green colour. The warrior wears an elaborate sterling silver headdress and his earrings are articulated-- sure to wiggle and shake as you move! This brooch is in excellent vintage condition. It measures 2 1/2 inches long, and at its widest point it measures 1 inch across. The turquoise measures approximately 3/4 inch by 5/8 inch The back of the pendant is hallmarked with the traditional B for Ballesteros, signed Talleres de Los Ballesteros, and Taxco. It is also marked sterling, 925, as well as the eagle mark 42. Weighs 18.9 grams.
