For sale a pristine condition for it's age: Marantz PM7200.  Took usual care of it, inspected internals and readjusted DC bias and offset voltages to factory specs. Those values drift away as amps age and need to be readjusted from time to time in class A and AB solid state amps. The front panel is very clean with only some minute marks on a corner or two. Interior inspection indicates very low wear and very low heat dissipation traces - it is a very lightly used unit. THE HARD rock highway is littered with those who could/should have made it if only Lady Luck had been smiling in their direction; none more so than Orange County four-piece Storm, who first whipped up the proverbial gale in 1979 with a self-titled album for MCA that fell unceremoniously by the wayside while others shot to fame & fortune. Down but not out, the band retrenched and reshuffled their line-up (still helmed by Jeanette Chase & Lear Stevens), making way for a second assault some four years down the line. This time, the label was different (Capitol) and the music even more confident in execution and strident in style – moving from quirky pop rock origins through to a bigger, beefier sound fusing a love of Queen and the Sweet with out‘n’out hard-hitters like Led Zeppelin & Van Halen. ‘Storm II’, originally released in 1983, although failing to propel the band to worldwide success, earned impressive critical appraisal amongst the hard rock cognoscenti (it was hailed by Kerrang! as an overlooked work of brilliance), becoming a collector’s favourite and a yardstick by which many a similar work has been measured. 24-bit remastering from original source tapes, huge story of Storm liner notes, tons of additional photos & memorabilia spread out over a 16 page full colour booklet and six previously unreleased bonus tracks! Vente pour changement de système moins volumineux. SONY SS-G1   The original  SS-G1  was made in Japan. The smaller but heavier  SS-G1mkII  was assembled and tweaked in Germany by WEGA. The  SS-G1mkIII  did see even better power handling and a filter repratee shifted up by 1Khz. Typical Sony: all three only say " G1 " on the their front and cover, whatever the actual version... All three sported a 25cm Carbocon woofer, the "acoustically grooved" front baffle and a fair directivity plot (given the price-range). THD specs show a predominance of 2nd harmonics (I can hear that:) and my ears tell me they can take a LOT of power without going haywire. My own november 1980 mkII have an ogival damped sub-enclosure holding the mid driver and although the filter board is tagged " Sony, made in Japan ", several components bear a WEGA sticker. The inside shows many corner braces plus a large, 3cm thick, flower-like shape supplementary surface glued to the back to diminish standing resonances. The 25cm tall WS-E70 feet are screwed to the underside with a huge and large (single) screw. As a few lower to mid-end Sony speakers from 1977 onward, the  G1mkII  were part of those units "tuned in Europe" for the european market and for european "ears". The low and high drivers in my mkII are  SEAS OEMs with diecast aluminium structure, the mid as well probably but it is sealed so I can't be sure... A 1980 Best Buy in the UK at any rate.

Of course, shadowing these giants of prog were a number of young upstarts keen to make a challenge for gold and glory, not least of these were American mid-west contenders Starcastle. The band’s carefully executed debut album attracted a number of converts, selling something in the region of a quarter of a million copies, resulting in Epic records taking a keener interest. In an effort to up the ante, so to speak, the band was sent into the studio (Morin Heights, Quebec) to record their next album with flamboyant and creative British producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, Journey, Foreigner). ‘Fountains Of Light’ is arguably Starcastle’s finest moment. Baker’s production is meticulous yet forceful, allowing the band to stretch out and take on the competition without sacrificing integrity or a natural melodic song writing ability. Packed out with hooks to die for and submerged in complex yet accessible arrangements, the album oozes charm and class. VG très bon  la pochette est usée avec des plis, des marques, des décollements, une usure des bords, des décolorations, un début de marque circulaire du disque sur la pochette. les signes de l'âge sont présents. Le vinyle a des rayures et marques qui affectent la qualité sonore avec des craquements et sautements. G pauvre l'état de la pochette est proche de celui de VG- avec en plus des écritures, un papier gondolé à cause de l'humidité

DURING THE 1970’s, the glorious Sunshine State of Georgia had been a fertile breeding ground for home grown Southern Rock nurturing, amongst others, the Allman Brothers Band, Grinderswitch and the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Doc Holliday, although not as universally well known as those big selling, stubble sporting whiskey soaked troubadours, were an important, nay essential, addition to that linage of respected and revered musicians. Developing a reputation as one of the hottest acts on what was affectionately termed the chittlin’ circuit DH, or Roundhouse as they had been known, eventually courted the ears of various power players in the record business. Wined and dined by the cigar chomping executives at A&M Records they were eventually signed to a major contract in 1980. Introduced to renowned English record producer ‘Colonel’ Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Strawbs, Nantucket) the coupling appeared an unlikely marriage but the natural  bonhomie of both parties proved hugely infectious helping to create one of the most impressive debut albums from a Southern Rock band since the glory days of the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
