Very Nice Nakamichi 1000 ZXL in exceptional condition. The tape deck has been totally renewed both electronically and mechanically in order to reach the best possible performance. The description of the work that has been performed in this unit is here below: All the electrolytic capacitors have been replaced by the Top quality capacitors, and this includes the failure prone "orange film capacitors" that must be replaced (according to the Nakamichi recommanded tolerances) to secure the unit in the long run and get the best performance: a total of >230 caps have replaced by new ones. The 3 relays have been replaced by new (meaning unused) ones in order to improve the long term reliability of this state of the art tape recorder. Regarding the mechanism, a Nakamichi specialist named "Audio Retro" (one of the Nakamichi best specialist) has changed all the belts and the pinch rollers. The sophisticated mechanism has been totally lubricated properly. The mechanism and the azimuth have been tuned. Audio Retro has also optimized the frequency response curves using an oscilloscope and the appropriate equipment. The final result is truly excellent, just the same as a brand new Nakamichi 1000 ZXL. I have tested the tape deck in my own home afterwards and I was very surprised to hear so many details on very old tapes: the quality was far beyong my expectations.
