This wonderful antique violin is labelled b'"'Carlo Tononi, 1761b'"'. This is most definitely a 19th Century copy, as violins from the 18th era are extremely rare. However, it has such a beautiful oil varnish and a sound on the warm side, with some depth to it due to its wide body. It has three repaired and closed cracks on the sides of the instrument. They do not affect the sound, they are not in the sound-post area or bass bar ! - Rosewood tailpiece and chin rest. Boxwood pegs. - It comes with a violin case, but no bow.
