He was asked to design a series of no-compromise modules, beginning with a microphone preamplifier and equaliser, for Air Studios in Montserrat and then in London. In the 1990s for just a couple years they produced an expensive audiophile Red 4 stereo preamp and Red 5 power amp. The story goes that Focusrite was commissioned to make a full blown audiophile preamp for home use. They were produced for a very short time in limited numbers. Some features are a full aluminum body with polished stainless steel top and bottom. Excellent detail retrieval without and hint of harshness. Smooth yet open enough to be engaging and musical. Bass is deep and taut, midrange dead on without shouting or added presence. Selling my beloved ProAc Studio 125 in very good working condition and aesthetics with some minor marks on the base plates. Classic speakers Made in England, these are truly refined, recipient of many excellent reviews and winner of the What Hi-Fi? Best Buy. This exceptional loudspeaker will satisfy not only demanding audiophiles but also those with home theater applications. Prepare to enter the dream-land of true high-end: great dynamics and stereo imaging, amazing bass, voices are perfect, huge soundstage, airy highs, articulated and detailed mids, gorgeous cabinet design. The speakers come with all the original spikes and grills and are in perfect working order. They come packed in the original boxes with protective foam. No discolouration of the veneer under the grills as can be seen in the photos. Could be shipped in two boxes but please, ask for a quote before as the postage differs from country to country, thanks! For Belgium, Germany or The Netherlands I believe you can arrange also for a Cocolis service, which is much more convenient. Extemely little used for their age, they were in my secondary studio. I had them driven by different amplifiers: a Sugden, a Peachtree and a Merdidian, all worked perfectly with great synergy. b'"'So inspired by these speakers, I had to tell all of you about them and so this is my first ever hifi review: If you see these speakers for sale just bloody buy them! I have not heard anything so amazing since I walked into a hifi store in '89 when a new Quincy Jones CD was blasting through some Shinanighans (I know that's not the correct spelling). The Studio 125 speakers are a knockout for their minimalist styling alone and mine have beautiful mahogany veneer that compliments our 60's modernist furniture. I saw a pair of Proac Studio 125 speakers come up for sale and I have always wondered what they sound like since the Tablettes were a favourite monitor in a friend's hi-end studio setup. I got them home and hooked them up to a rather grunty NAD 753 HT amp, yamaha CD player, nothing too silly and the sound literally made my mouth fall open, then I went on to start swearing and punching the air with delight. They have detail that is so moorish to listen to, kind of juicy and the bottom end it rich and super deep, I will never sell these speakers, after years of searching I am finally spending less time on and more time listening to music. I should add that these are all-rounders, they do wonders for older low-fi recordings as well, so not just for the jazz or classical heads, these speakers make everything sound rich, lush and detailed. I don't really understand how they do it.b'"' (Campbell, AudioPhile) youtube.com/watch?v=A-eOuNDm6SYb'&'t=230s The specifications of the speakers: Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms Recommended Amplifiers: 20 to 150 watts Frequency Response: 30hz to 30Khz Sensitivity: 87db linear for 1 watt at 1 metre Bass/Midrange Driver: 612” inch diameter exclusive ProAc design with modified dust cap and critically coated cone on die-cast Chassis. magnetically shielded.
