Il etudia le violon, notamment avec Eugene Ysaÿe (1858-1931) au Conservatoire de Bruxelles, puis la composition a Francfort-sur-le-Main avec Iwan Knorr (1853-1916). Il fut chef d'orchestre a Lausanne, vecut quelque temps a Paris, avant de s'installer aux Etats-Unis en 1916, et de prendre la nationalite americaine en 1924; il devint professeur de composition a partir de 1917 a Cleveland, puis a San Francisco ou il fut Directeur du Conservatoire entre 1925 et 1930. Bien que citoyen americain, Bloch vecut pourtant essentiellement en France et en Suisse de 1930 a 1938. Sous la pression antisemite de l'epoque, il dut repartir pour les Etats-Unis, enseignant a l'Universite de Berkeley, Californie, de 1940 a 1951. Parmi ses eleves les plus connus, on peut citer Frederick Jacobi (1891-1952), Bernard Rogers (1893-1968), Roger Sessions (1996-1985) et George Antheil (1900-1959). En 1941, il rejoignit une petite communaute independante a Agate Beach, Oregon, et mourut d'un cancer en 1959 a Porland, Oregon. Mavis Staples ‎– Time Waits For No One Label:Paisley Park ‎– 9 25798-2 Format:CD, Album Pays:US Date:1989 Etat / Grading: Très bon; comme neuf / Very Good, like new Time Waits For No One is the seventh solo studio album by American R&B and gospel singer Mavis Staples (her first on Paisley Park Records), and her first to include input by Prince. Six of the album's eight songs are written, produced and largely performed by Prince, and he is listed as the executive producer of the whole album (although he is not believed to have had any input on the two tracks not written by him). First steps Prince (through manager Bob Cavallo) approached Mavis Staples about recording an album in Autumn 1987 after seeing her perform as part of The Staple Singers in August 1987 at The Forum, Inglewood, CA, USA. The group had been unsigned for 13 years, and Mavis Staples soon signed with Paisley Park Records. Recording process Work on the album began in February 1988, when Prince recorded Interesting. He sent the track, along with Jaguar (a vault track recorded in January 1987, originally intended for Sheena Easton), to Mavis Staples in Memphis, TN, USA, where she recorded lead vocals on both tracks using producers Al Bell, Homer Banks and Lester Snell at Ardent Studios. In late June 1988, shortly before leaving for the European opening of the Lovesexy Tour, Prince recorded Time Waits For No One for the album, and revised Come Home (initially recorded January 1987), I Guess I'm Crazy (initially recorded October 1987) and Train (initially recorded July 1986), and all four songs were sent to Mavis Staples for lead vocal overdubs. Prince and Mavis Staples did not work together in the studio on this album, therefore, although they did work together in late July 1988, in Olympic Studio, London, England, on God Is Alive, which was not considered for the album, as well as on later projects following the release of this album. Vinyl 33 tours - Sound Clash Kicksquad - Kickin Records - Made in England. Année 1990.   Mixed by P. Sebastiane / K. Ford / R. Ruppert. La pochette a souffert, graphée et signée par je ne sais qui. De plus, elle est percée, le vinyl passe à travers. Sinon, le disque passe plutôt bien sauf début face 2 petite blessure engendre un craquement qui passe vite, peu dérangeant à mon goût. Vous l'avez compris, ce vinyl a vécu mais la musique est excellente, rythmes obsédants, 3 titre d'Electro / Techno de très bonne facture.
