This French   pillow case is VINTAGE But  brand new made from Toile de GERARDMER Linen Metis   Top quality beautifully hand embroidered with a decorative ladder edge on each end & the inside finish is equally special.     Measures:- Length 65cm Width 62 cm  What is metis linen? Metis means "mix" The French seem to have the innate ability to blend beauty and utility creating wonderful everyday items like this monogrammed metis linen sheet   Metis means "mix" which is exactly what metis linen is, usually a mix of 35% cotton and 65% linen  Pure linen in the warp or woof and cotton in the weft or warp.  (although other fibre combinations were also woven such as 30/70 or 70/30.) Metis linen is the "workhorse" of French bedding. It is a heavy-duty fabric designed to be washed repeatedly and to stand up to the rough washing techniques of long ago.  Appearing in France in the early 1900s, metis linen was introduced as a less expensive bedding material than pure linen, it is easier to iron, and  It quickly became a welcomed wedding gift or part of a young girl's dowry.  Metis linen has been handed down through generations  DIRECT FROM FRANCE I am also listing other bed linens pillow cases etc.

  This gorgeous pair of curtains in traditional Toile de Jouy is named " Pastorale" Boussac Romanex in medium to lightweight pure cotton, they are hand finished & would look great in any room and are in excellent condition with rufflette heading, freshly laundered & ready to hang.  Complete with 18 metal hooks & two tie backs that have a pink satin ribbon trim, which could be changed to match their new owner's decor. Unlined Literally translating to "Cloth from Jouy" (a little town near Versailles), this famous, pretty printed fabric is an important part of French history and savoir-faire. Along with idyllic, romantic landscape scenes, toile patterns were also used to tell a story. Some referenced tales of European mythology and others mirrored major events of the time. For the printing process, vignettes were originally carved on woodblocks, and after 1770, engraved on copper plates. MEASUREMENTS of each curtain    Length  2.7 meters = 106 ins with a 6 ins hem.
