Gauge design forged

Description: Ancienne et belle foene - fouene - arcachonnaise à 9 piques (brins)  entièrement forgée à la main et en très bon état de conservation. Cette foène,   bel objet d'art populaire,  mesure  50 cm de long pour une  largeur de 18.5 cm avec  des brins de 23 cm de long. Son poids est d'environ 800 grammes donc une foene solide mais légère, très maniable qui  devait faire des ravages sans aucun doute car les brins sont ultra-piquants et les ardillons sont très marqués. Cette foene provient d'un village du bassin d'arcachon, et servait à pêcher les anguilles dans le sable à marée basse. A noter que sur le même genre on trouve plus souvent la foene 7 brins de Haute Dordogne de même conception en fait sa cousine qui servait à la pêche du saumon plus généralement  encore que ce type de foène n'était pas forcement très spécifique et devait servir à tous poissons vu la létalité de l'engin, seul bémol elle devait être assez fragile du fait des piquants acérés. This Eel fishing spear,  a beautiful object of folk art, is 50 cm long and 18.5 cm wide with 23 cm long  strands. Its weight is about 800 grams so a solid but light fishing spear, very handy and very efficient  as the strands are ultra-sharp and the barbs are very marked. This Eel fishing spear  comes from a village in Arcachon France, and was used to fish eels in the  sand at low tide. Note that on the same kind of spear we find of the same design a 7 strands from Haute Dordogne  France of in fact its cousin which was used for salmon fishing more generally still that this type of  foam was not necessarily very specific and was to be used to all fish given the lethality of the spear   but it must have been quite fragile due to the sharp spines .
