Holiday et I started a joke m'enchanteront toujours Grand talent melodique Venus d'Australie mais etant tout a fait citoyens britanniques, avant la vagua disco qui les rendra celebres a nouveau, tout a coup ils etaient la des tubes a l'evident attrait melodique, point de racolage, du talent, un don. Les freres Gibbs (Bee Gees pour Brother Gibbs) plus Colin Petersen - batterie- et Vince Melouney a la guitare developpent presque l'equivalent de la Beatlesmania, leur production melodique et en harmonies vocales proche des Fab Four ou des Beach Boys que des Stones et toutes les vagues que le rock des sixties allaient creer, est tout aussi seduisante. Peu de titres manquent dans ce best of presque parfait New York mining disaster ouvre le succes, l'intitule sonne comme un titre a rallonge de Dylan, le meilleur de Bee Gees First, et le reste suit, "Massachussets" hit mondial bien merite et les petits joyaux d'Odessa sans le titre eponyme de cet ambitieux album, manque pour moi Murley purt drive Autre manque, rare ici, Sir geoffrey save the world. Cette douzaine de titres est une affaire, une aubaine pour profiter de ces petits joyaux bien ciseles des freres Gibbs. Post Scriptum un dimanche apres-midi sur la television francaise, presente par Gerard Klein, tout un apres midi avec le groupe, c'etait en hiver, manteaux de fourrure a l'image, et encore Massachussetts n'avait pas seduit le monde entier mais deja, les titres precedents les avaient installe au sommet cet exemple me semble eloquent a travers le prisme de l'hexagone. Sixties Et oui ils existaient avant le disco,et,pour moi,c'etait nettement mieux.Il n'y a pratiquement que des hits de qualite dans ce CD.A l'epoque du Londres des annees 60 ils etaient deja une valeur sure.On passe un bon moment a ecouter ce disque.
