Je confirme les propos de Gege, au sujet de cet album de Sherman Robertson. Le bonhomme a traine derriere de grosses vedettes avant de pouvoir, assez tardivement, etre seul au devant de la scene. Donc il en profite, et se lache genereusement, enquillant les solos a rallonge. C'est un blues solide que nous propose Sherman, du Texas Blues, en petite formation (batterie, basse, claviers) mais au son puissant. La voix de Sherman evoque Robert Cray, parfois Luther Allison, avec ces petits accents funky. Cote guitare, on ne donne pas dans la fioriture, mais dans le lourd et l'efficace. C'est sans doute les limites de l'album. J'aime lorsque les choses se calment, a la fin de "Dust my broom", ce passage plus leger. Mais l'ensemble est domine par des morceaux forts, aux solos proches du style rock. Une des idoles du monsieur etait Albert Collins, et la filiation est evidente sur un titre comme "Linda Lu", par le tempo utilise, le chant syncope, et bien sur le chorus speede a la guitare, interminable, extenuant, relance sans cesse quand il semble s'arreter. Sans doute le clou de cet album. Suit un "Make it rain" lent et banal, et le CD se termine sur le classique et long "Tin Pan Alley" Huit titres assez longs (des 7, 10, 11 minutes), domine par le jeu de guitare (on regrette un organiste relativement absent) pour un blues booste et solidement charpente, sans grande originalite, mais pechu comme on aime. Duree du CD 56 minutes. pas mal du tout Ne dans le Bayou, Sherman Robertson vecut ensuite a Houston au Texas pour revenir ensuite en Louisiane. Il a joue pendant 5 ans, dans les annees 70, avec Clifton Chenier "le roi du zydeco" mais, influence par Freddie King et Albert Collins, il joue maintenant, avec son groupe, un blues plus rock dont on apprecie la qualite dans cet album live enregistre au cours d'un festival en Hollande en mai 2005 ou Sherman Robertson nous produit ici beaucoup de reprises (5 sur 8 titres) bien interpretees. Sur une rythmique puissante et des interventions de claviers bienvenus, la guitare nous comble de solos incisifs et travailles. Un bon album, pas mal du tout ! Je sors le disque (avec sa sous-pochette) de sa pochette cartonnée, car sinon le disque peut bouger et faire des trous dans la pochette (vécu en tant qu’acheteur). Puis j’ajoute 3 couches de protection : 1.    pochette en plastique comme celle que vous trouvez chez un disquaire. 2.    enveloppe à bulles avec des cales pour assurer l’écart avec le 3ème niveau. 3.    carton cannelé haute qualité, très rigide, avec la mention « fragile »   Shipping with Mondial Relay tracking, perfectly reliable.
