As standard it features all of the original TB-303 controls, and also has an external audio input through the filter and VCA. Overlapping midi notes gives you that essential 303 note slide, and any midi note with a velocity of 120 or more will trigger the note accent. Realistically if this synth was programmed correctly, you would be VERY hard pressed to distinguish between this unit and a real 303 in a mix. In a side by side comparison i'd say it sounds a little meatier than the Behringer TD3, with a little more girth and analogue weight to the sound. We have modded this machine with our circuitbenders Acid FM mods to give a huge range of extra sounds, without diluting the essential TB-303 character. MODS INCLUDE: VCO On/Off Switch: Normally when you plug a jack into the external VCF input, the MB33's VCO is automatically removed from the mix. As there may be occasions where you don't want this to happen, or situations such as when you're using the filter lock mod (see below) when you want to be able to turn the VCO on and off yourself, we've added a switch to add manual control of this. VCO Drive: The MB33 retro seems to be designed to slightly distort the output stage at full volume, much like the TB303 did. The Drive mod boosts this distortion savagely for some grungy acid techno sounds. This mod increases the maximum amount of distortion at maximum volume. The intensity of the distortion can be set using the normal volume knob. Resonance Boost Switch: An annoying issue with these machines is that the resonance never reaches self oscillation (but then neither did the TB303) and also drops off considerably when the cutoff is over 3/4 of the way up. We've solved this problem by adding the resonance boost switch. With this switch activated the filter starts to squeal with the resonance about halfway up, and then just screams with self oscillation at any higher settings. The resonance boost is especially effective when used with the VCF FM mods. VCF FM: Essentially VCF FM (Frequency Modulation) allows you to modulate the filter cutoff at audio frequencies to create all kinds of clanging cross modulation and bizarre alien splatters & sweeps. This effect works best with the resonance cranked up into self oscillation which is where the resonance boost mod comes into play. The FM controls allow you to select one of four sources for the FM signal. The first is the normal filter input socket round the back. This means you can run a sound through the filter section, but also use that sound to modulate the filter cutoff at audio frequencies at the same time. The second source is a new FM input jack on the right hand side of the case. Using this source allows you to run a sound through the filter from the VCF input or just use the internal VCO, and at the same time modulate the filter cutoff with an entirely independent sound source at the FM in jack. Le fil de ce micro est dénudé (cf. photo), la prise d'alimentation a un fonctionnement irrégulier, j'ai testé l'appareil en direct sans cette prise. ETAT DU LECTEUR Façade en très bon état. Quelques traces et marques sur le  dessus (cf photos) La courroie du tiroir ainsi que les tampons amortisseurs de la tête de lecture sont neufs. Ces éléments ont été récemment remplacés  par un professionnel.  La  tête de lecture est d'origine (Philips CDM-12.4).  Pour le moment, elle a été conservée car globalement, la platine fonctionne bien. La mécanique est très réactive.  La platine lit des cds gravés sans difficulté  mais il  peut arriver,  sur des cds mal gravés ou en mauvais état,  que la platine se mette en erreur du type "error" ou "no disc".  Cela est rare mais dans le temps,  un remplacement de la tête de lecture   CDM12.4,  que l'on trouve facilement sur le net, devra  peut-être être envisagé.   QUALITE SONORE Ce lecteur vintage, sommet de la gamme Stage du constructeur français Micromega est doté d' une très grande réputation  auprès des audiophiles pour des raisons évidentes.  Il possède un superbe rendu, une musicalité  d'un très grand naturel,  sans agressivité.    Les instruments sonnent juste et  les voix sont retranscrites avec un réalisme sonore impressionnant.  L'image sonore est ample, la spatialisation remarquable. The read head is original (Philips CDM-12.4). For the moment, it has been kept because overall, the turntable works well. The mechanics are very responsive.    The turntable reads CDs without difficulty but it can happen, on poorly engraved  CD or CD  in poor condition, that the turntable gets into an "error" or "no disc" type error. This is rare but over time a replacement for the CDM12.4 read head, which is easily found on the net, may have to be considered. SOUND QUALITY This vintage player, the top of the Stage range from the French manufacturer Micromega, has a very high reputation among audiophiles for obvious reasons. It has a superb rendering, a musicality of a very great naturalness,  without aggressiveness. The instruments ring true and the voices are transcribed with impressive sonic realism. The sound image is ample, the spatialization remarkable.  SPECIAL FEATURES The reader has many unique functions. Instructions for use in French will be provided. Vox Valvetronix VT20+ à réparer / for parts. Français: Bonjour, Je vends un ampli guitare Vox Valvetronix VT20+ à réparer, ou pour pièces. Problème et diagnostic: L'amplificateur s'allume, le son passe bien par l'étage à lampe, le son sort par la sortie jack écouteurs, mais le son ne sort par sur le haut-parleur. D'après mon analyse et ce que j'ai pu lire, il arrive que le jack s'oxyde et que l'ampli b'"'détecteb'"' un jack dans la sortie écouteurs, donc bloque le haut-parleur. Il semblerait que ça soit une maladie des Vox Valvetronix. Après démontage, nettoyage du jack, et tests en faisant des ponts, je n'arrive pas à le faire marcher. Je le met donc en vente pour quelqu'un qui saurait le réparer en changeant le jack/ faisant les bons ponts, ou pour servir de banque de pièces. Le tube Ruby 12AX7AC5 est en parfait état. Livraison uniquement de la partie électronique, sans caisson ni haut-parleur. Issue and testing: The amp starts up well, the sound is going through the tube preamp level and goes out on the headphones jack. However, no sound goes to the loudspeaker. After some reading, it appears that the headphones jack gets oxydized and then the amp falsely detects a jack inside so blocks the loudspeaker. It seems to happen quite often with Vox Valvetronix amps. I cleaned the jack and tried to bridge the jack with cables but no success. I am selling it for someone who can repair it, or would need the parts. The Ruby 12AX7AC5 tube is in perfect condition. I have asked for no logo on the top of the chassis for a more discreet and, in my opinion, better look. By the time I have placed the order and then I have received it - May 2024 - my system has evolved into full TAD and therefore decided to sell the Baby ref 2. I have used it once with my Vitus RI-101 mk 2 and the improvement was massive in my opinion. Better presence, balance, clarity. I have initially thought to keep it for a second system. Since I don’t know when that will happen I prefer to sell it. It’s a pure jewel. Manufacturer warranty until March 2026. Shipping cost: I have put €100 worldwide.
