Sonny Rollins Sonny Rollin, né Theodore Walter Rollins le 7 septembre 1930 à New York, est un saxophoniste ténor et compositeur de jazz. Il est largement reconnu comme l'un des musiciens de jazz les plus importants et influents de l'ère post-bebop. La longue et prolifique carrière de Sonny Rollins au saxophone ténor commence vers l'âge de 16 ans. Certaines de ses compositions comme St. Thomas, Oleo, Doxy et Airegin sont devenues des standards de jazz. Ses soixante-cinq ans de carrière lui donnent aujourd'hui le statut de dernier géant en activité. Improvisateur, croisant les genres, poussant à leurs limites le son et le phrasé, Sonny Rollins incarne l'esprit de quête inlassable du jazz. Sonny Rollins est toujours en tournée en 2013 après avoir survécu à la plupart de ses contemporains en compagnie desquels il enregistra, tels John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Max Roach et Art Blakey. Often rumored but rarely seen, Mint should never be used as a grade unless more than one person agrees that the record or sleeve truly is in this condition. *Note: I almost never use MINT grade, I think it should only be used for perfect new sealed records or perfect "still in shrink" records. I could occasionally add an additional conservative grade of [NM+] to this guide to describe perfect records, even if not new sealed or not "still in shrink". NEAR MINT (NM OR M-)** A good description of a NM record is “it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.” In other words, it’s nearly perfect. Many dealers won’t use a grade higher than this, implying (perhaps correctly) that no record or sleeve is ever truly perfect. NM records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable.
