You will be able to experience an unmatched image quality(the sensor is still ranked an all-time #2 in Dxomark with an excellent score of 101, still dwarfing any full format wonder of 2020…), with a body build to last and stay with you for serious studio work, or the wildest adventure outdoor setup. Ricoh-Pentax is legendary for its weather sealing, and so is this body. To be honest, it is only for health issues that I am selling. I tried the Hasselblad mirrorless X1D, the fuji GFX50s (dreadfull experience with the laziest AF in the world and a poor battery life), theGFX100 (much better experience, but I wasn’t impressed by image quality and rendering…must be the glass), and I always come back to the Pentax 645z. I have never been impressed by Fuji GFX image quality. I Liked the Leica S (again it must be the glass and the lens design that make the real differences), the Hasselblad was interesting, but way too expensive comparing with the Pentax, not even considering the weather sealing and the very long list of ergonomic treats you get from Pentax engineers. It is about creating images and only this, it is not a smartphone. It’s a photographer tool, not a toy. In 2018 I was disappointed by Canon full-frame offering. The5d4 was too expensive and there wasn’t a gap in quality from any canon full Frame since 5d2 and I decided to enter the medium format world with the 645z. I already tried it in Japan in 2015 and I said “well, this would be nice…”. After having bought this camera with literally undying battery life (what a refreshment comparing with all electronic newest camera), I just went to my garden and started right away the 120mm macro. I was dumb because I had no AF at all, but discovered the cleverest mechanism for AF/MF switch to date:sliding the focus ring. There is a slight click and I was all set. Yes the screw motor lenses are a bit noisy, but it’s nice and at the first picture of a random blossoming flower…God almighty, it was like a facepalm, struck by beauty and sheer quality. I decided to keep on the Pentax 645z journey and collect some lenses. The 28-45mm was very soon my favorite landscape lens,equivalent to 22-35mm, extraordinary quality, stabilized, totally weather sealed…those words should surprise you as medium format+stabilized lens+weather sealing…seldom go together. Then came the 90mm macro f2.8, stabilized as well and weather sealed. This may simply be the best lens I’ve ever used for portrait work, incredibly smooth yet detailed. Bokeh is one thing but volumes,transition, tones, textures, it’s just amazing for portrait, and pack shots as well. I wanted to try tele lenses, and acquired the 300mm “star”lens. Build like real lenses with metal, feels solid. Image quality was amazing too, I capture incredible shots of tigers with it, and this lens can really tell stories and add a unique identity. All the lenses are incredible, sharp, and each with unique though I must admit the 150mm f2.8, even though hailed as the portrait king by some other photographers, was often left on the shelf. Please look Pentax forum for reviews on these marvelous lenses. Thanks to the incredible wedding photographers Jeff and Michelle (hi to them!) I discover the craft of using 80s East-Germany Isco lenses for the Pentax and I assembled my favorite lens with a 135mm F2projector lens. This one is really a collectible, manual focus only, it cannot go to the infinity (but for portrait, who cares?) require a good amount of focus skills and mastery of yourself, but it is a very rewarding lens. After all,Helmut Newton shot in medium format with manual focus only, and look at his work…With this wide aperture and unique look, it sad to let it go. A Super-Dynarex 4/135 is also part of this auction, but its diaphragm does not seem to work anymore although it has clean lenses and very nice cosmetics as well. A wep kinotelex 2x converter is the last lens of this set, in extremely good conditions in every regards as well. This set comes in a hard to find original Voigtlander outfit leather case in VGC, which has inside 5 Voigt lenses (portrait, UV, Skylight, yellow and orange - each in VGC), a Voigt lens hood (VGC) and 5 lens caps, a Voigt adapter.
