His sixth album, Purple Rain (1984), was recorded with his backup band the Revolution, and was the soundtrack to his film acting debut of the same name. Purple Rain spent six consecutive months atop the Billboard 200. Prince won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. After disbanding the Revolution, Prince went on to achieve continued critical success with Sign o' the Times (1987). In the midst of a contractual dispute with Warner Bros in 1993, he changed his stage name to the unpronounceable symbol  (known to fans as the "Love Symbol"), and was sometimes referred to as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince or TAFKAP, or simply the Artist. He signed with Arista Records in 1998 and began referring to himself by his own name again in 2000. After returning to mainstream prominence following a performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony in 2004, he scored six US top ten albums over the following decade. Joni Mitchell said of Prince, "He's driven like an artist. His motivations are growth and experimentation as opposed to formula and hits." In mid-life, Prince reportedly experienced considerable pain from injuries to his body (mainly hips) sustained through his dynamic stage performances (which included leaping off speaker stacks in high heels), and was sometimes seen using a cane. In April 2016, at the age of 57, Prince died of an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. Prince sold over 150 million records worldwide, ranking him among the best-selling music artists of all time. Cette semaine je vends une très importante collection de disques classiques provenant en très grande partie d'un appartement (fermé pendant plus de 30 ans) ayant appartenu à un critique musical. Une majorité de ces disques figurent des interprétations des plus grands solistes, notamment de violonistes. Une partie importante concerne des disques soviétiques (SOV DISC) dont les pressages ont été réalisés en ex-URSS avec des pochettes françaises. Ces disques, dans leur immense majorité, n'ont jamais été joués ! Ceux qui ont été écoutés l'ont été 2/3 fois au maximum. Ayant séjourné dans un endroit sec mais non dépourvu de poussière, les disques n'ont été nettoyés que superficiellement avant que je ne les prenne en photo. Chaque collectionneur ayant sa propre méthode de nettoyage, je laisse le soin de cette délicate opération à leurs futurs propriétaires. A majority of these records include performances by the greatest soloists, including violinists. An important part concerns Soviet records (SOV DISC) whose pressing were made in the former USSR with French covers. These records, in their vast majority, have never been played ! Those who were listened to it were 2/3 times at most. Having stayed in a dry place but not free of dust, the records were cleaned only superficially before I took the pictures. NM (NEAR MINT) Almost perfect copy, never or very rarely played. At worst, one or two surface marks, generally insignificant and due to inner sleeve. This the highest grade for an unsealed record. EX (EXCELLENT) Very clean copy, some insignificant surfaces marks (hairlines). This record has been rarely played, on good equipment and treated with care. The cover has very minor flaws: a name or discrete initials, low wear corners, very slight ringwear. VG + + (VERY GOOD + +) More surface marks.Minor flaws or cover wear, minor edge wear. This is generally the grade given to a 20 to 50 years old record with a "normal" life, treated with care, but listened and handled regularly by his former owner. VG + (VERY GOOD +) Has been played a lot, shows multiple slight surface marks (hairlines) generating background noise between songs but no jump or skips. Cover shows important signs of age and storage (slice corners worn, name, date, dedication, tears, etc....). Generally, this record was one of the favorites among previous owner discotheque, went from hand to hand, had to animate some parties and bears the scars of a busy life. VG (VERY GOOD) The record is very worn, has been played a lot, shows important scratches that are creating permanent background noises but do not skip or jump.
