Il est réputé pour son piqué en fermant un peu (ce qui est normal pour un macro) et pour son bokeh original: à f2.8 le bokeh est plutôt doux (en proxy), à f4 légèrement hexagonal, mais à f5.6/f8 il prend la forme d'une étoile.  Cet objectif est avant tout conçu pour photographie les plantes, les insectes et petits objets, mais il excelle aussi en portrait. En usage généraliste, il devient bon en fermant (homogène en paysage à f11). C'est un 50mm en plein format (75mm en APS-C, ce qui peut être encore plus intéressant en macro). Il est entièrement manuel. La monture m42 s'adapte sur les appareils photo numériques, en particulier les hybrides, avec une bague d'adaptation (pas cher sur internet). However well used examples can have mechanical issues such as looseness/play of the focus section. Tightening a slotted locking ring that holds the focus section can help/fix.
