Liberia Cycles was a famous french brand established in Grenoble (french Alps) from 1918 to 1996, that equipped several professionnal racing road teams from1956 to 1990. The name of the company is a tribute to this west Africa country who took in former black slaves from USA after WW1. The bike dates back to 1986 and is in mint condition,as it just came out of the store, with very minor signs of use. Only the spokes show some oxidation. It has a beautiful Reynolds 501 frame with full rear chromed and Bocama Professionnal cut lugs, and it's equipped with high end parts such as the full Shimano 600 6207 groupset. It's surprisingly ligh weight with 9,565 kg (measured with digital hanging scale without pedals), regarding the rigid rods tires and the « heavy » mundialita saddle (400 gr). Le nom de la société évoque la liberté retrouvée à la fin de la première guerre mondiale, en hommage à ce pays d'Afrique qui accueillait les esclaves noirs de retour d'Amérique sur leurs terres d'origine. Le vélo date de 1986 et est dans un état neuf, avec de très minimes signes d'usage. Il se compose d'un très beau cadre Reynolds 501 avec arrière entièrement chromé et raccords Bocama Professionnels ajourés et peints, et d'un équipement haut de gamme, dont le groupe complet Shimano 600 6207. Liberia Cycles was a famous french brand established in Grenoble (french Alps) from 1918 to 1996, that equipped several professionnal racing road teams from1956 to 1990. The name of the company is a tribute to this west Africa country who took in former black slaves from USA after WW1. The bike dates back to 1986 and is in mint condition,as it just came out of the store, with very minor signs of use. Only the spokes show some oxidation. It has a beautiful Reynolds 501 frame with full rear chromed and Bocama Professionnal cut lugs, and it's equipped with high end parts such as the full Shimano 600 6207 groupset. It's surprisingly ligh weight with 9,565 kg (measured with digital hanging scale without pedals), regarding the rigid rods tires and the « heavy » Mundialita saddle (400 gr). ALCYON VINTAGE ANCIEN CADRE REYNOLDS 531 VELO ROUTE COURSE ROAD BICYCLE FRAME 56cm FRANCAIS : Cadre ancien fabriqué par Alcyon. Il a été anciennement repeint, travail plutôt bien réalisé.  La fourche est frappée Reynolds 531. Tous les tubes soudo- brasé. Il y a quelques petites minimes bosses, rayures et petits défauts sur la peinture.  Vendu avec son boitier et son jeu de direction Lightrace. Levier de vitesse Le Simplex. Le cadre est de taille : 56cm, le tube supérieur est de 56 cm d’axe en axe, diamètre pour la tige de selle est 26.2mm, la distance entre les pattes arrière est de 122mm. Son poids est de 3.080kg.  ENGLISH :  Old Alcyon frame that has been repainted/restored. The fork blades are marked in the steel, Reynolds 531. All joints are brazed. There are a few tiny dents, the paint has light wear scratches and scuff marks. Sold with its BB, Lightrace headset and Le Simplex derailleur lever.
