Neumann KM 84 Small Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone. The Neumann KM 84 i and KM 84, a classic small diaphragm FET condenser microphone, is the result of a visit to Norwegian State Television by Neumann engineers in the mid-1960s. NST wanted smaller, transistor-based microphones for a new studio but needed these microphones to run off of their central 48V DC power system rather than 12V T-Power. Neumann's engineers devised a plan for powering a microphone in this way and a major innovation, which we now know as phantom power, was born. The KM 84 i and KM 84 uses the KK 64 capsule from the tube-amplified KM 64 microphone. This capsule produces a near-perfect cardioid pattern which maintains frequency response even 130-degrees off-axis and yields a very natural sound without comb-filtered artifacts due to bleed from other instruments. The FET and transformer-output amplifier of the KM 84 i offers very high headroom, which makes the microphone widely used as a close microphone for drums, particularly snare drum. A -10dB pad is switchable on the body of the mic for recording especially hot signal sources. As is the case with all Neumann products, the b'"'ib'"' designation is for microphones that shipped with an XLR output connector for export to the US. KM 84 (no i) is electrically the same, but has a din-type Tuchel connector for the output. This one is in perfect state. Neumann KM 84, Microphone à condensateur cardioïde à petit diaphragme. Un atténuateur de -10 dB est commutable sur le corps du micro pour enregistrer des sources de signaux particulièrement chaudes. Comme c'est le cas pour tous les produits Neumann, la désignation « i » concerne les microphones livrés avec un connecteur de sortie XLR pour l'exportation aux États-Unis. A long-time staple for orchestral and acoustic recordings thanks to their clear and natural sound, the Neumann KM8x series of microphones can be found in just about every major studio and scoring stage -­­ often half a dozen or more of them under one roof. Essentially, the KM85i (“i” designation simply means it has an XLR connector, typically for export to North America) is the same microphone as the widely ­loved and more expensive KM84i, but with a built-­in bass rolloff. While this makes the microphone less useful in distant applications, the KM85i’s integral high­pass filter actually comes in handy as you move the microphone closer to an instrument or voice. Proximity effect is an acoustical bass­ boost inherent to directional microphones as they move closer to the signal source, which makes the cardioid-patterned KM84i a bit too bottom­-heavy when used as a close mic. The KM85i, however, sounds clear as a bell at closer distances, arguably making it a better choice for snare drums (engage the ­10dB pad to avoid ugly distortion - or don’t), acoustic guitars, and any other sound that benefits from having a microphone within spitting distance. Like new condition in the original packaging with two kv58 capsule extension tubes and one Neumann DS100 and two sg21 clips. black finish (for broadcast). i = xlr connector. Fantastic and very hard to find "close miking" stereo set (for acoustic guitar, speech, classical music ("tenor" singer (according to me, this stereo set is way better ("more musical") than the "Schoeps Pavarotti stand"), drum...). Bonjour, Je vends un micro hypercardioïde Neumann KM 150 (composé du corps KM100 et de la capsule AK50). Comparable au KM185, version hypercardioïde du KM184, mais avec un corps plus compact, une capsule détachable et une qualité un cran supérieure. Vendu dans sa boîte en bois avec sa pince et sa bonnette mousse. Excellent état, parfait pour prise de son sur perche (entre autres).
