Following their post-modern vibe further into Brian Eno's futuristic sound-space, U2 have now floated so far out of their customary atmosphere they've even abandoned their moniker. And with good reason. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1, a loose collection of compositions written for films which may or may not exist, resembles a U2 album in only the vaguest of ways--it is basically a Brian Eno concoction, with Ireland's finest contributing not much more than their distinctive instrumental feel and Bono's new-found subtlety around a vocal mic. Yet these characteristics are enough to identify the participants, and to raise Passengers above the standard electronic/ambient din that has taken over clubland in the 1990s. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1 is not strictly an experimental excursion. While much of the album follows the atmospheric norm of Eno's own Soundtracks series (after which this project was named), there are a number of traditional "songs" interspersed between the synthetic canvases, and most of these are softer extensions on the ZOOROPA aesthetic. "Slug" finds Bono whispering wishes over tension-filled keyboard washes and layers of rhythm. "Your Blue Room," a relaxed kin to "One" and "The Unforgettable Fire," is U2 playing Tindersticks--full of menacing organ, faint, Duane Eddy-like guitar, and starring Larry Mullen, Jr. as a Euro Funky Drummer. Finest among these surreal moves is "Miss Sarajevo," which uses Luciano Pavarotti's tenor as a voice of empowered grief in the melancholy story of a war-torn beauty contest. When ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1 moves outward, it flies in the direction of the nearest rave--adding world-wide rhythms to Eno's ambient soundscapes, to form a compass of emotions. "United Colours" is a straight-up techno track with passing samples of scratched records, fly-by vehicles and looped voices. "One Minute Warning" is an eerie alarm, complete with African and electronic beats, a machine-gun ticker-tape pulse, and an incomprehensible Eno-led choir seemingly ushering in the apocalypse. The album ends with a mixture of the two explored worlds: "Theme From Let's Go Native" is a bit of tribal rockisms, led by a stray dub bassline and Edge's simple chords. *** 4 Classic GOON SHOWs from BBC Transcription Service *** Talking about the influence of The Goon Shows on the British comedy that followed it, The Wikipedia entry states: - Eddie Izzard notes that the Goons and Milligan in particular b'"'influenced a new generation of comedians who came to be known as 'alternative'.b'"' John Cleese [of Monty Python fame] notes that b'"'In comedy, there are a very small number of defining moments when somebody comes along and genuinely creates a breakthrough, takes us into territory where nobody has been before. The only experiences to which I can compare my own discovery of the Goons are going to see N. F. Simpson's play One Way Pendulum... or, later on, hearing Peter Cook for the first time. They were just light years ahead of everyone else.b'"' These four vintage episodes come from the middle of the show's life run and were recorded in November and December 1956. BBC Transcription Service disks of the shows were distributed throughout the Commonwealth the follow year and were later released in the USA. ''LIGHTNIN''' the blues of LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS - PRESTIGE BVLP 1019 -  Original MONO 1961 - Premier pressage - First pressing -  État : Occasion - Used VG+ (record), VG (sleeve) ETAT/ CONDITIONS Disque/ Vinyl record VG + avec tres belle qualité de son délivrée par l'enregistrement mono (puissance, relief, présence voix et instruments, etc..) Un peu de légers, très faibles crépitements par moments et peu fréquents, avec la dynamique du son, la voix, instruments etc... ils sont à peine audible. Les basses sortent merveilleusement. Quelques très fines rayures - griffures superficielles  sans conséquence sur la qualité audio. Pourrait être grader en EX sans souci mais je préfère rester VG + Je l'ai testé sur ma Sony PS V715 avec les basses à mi - puissance et il joue d'une manière fantastique et envoutante. Un des plus grands enregistrement de blues qui n'ai jamais été fait et que j'ai entendu.    VG+: Quelques défauts sont acceptables, mais rien qui compromet réellement l'enregistrement, ceci visuellement ou à l'audition. On peut avoir (visuellement)  un petit frottement sur le disque, de lègères marques inaudibles, un léger bruit de crépitement en fond. A little rub, light inaudible marks, a little background crackle Pochette / Sleeve VG: traces d'usure bien visibles, avec ancienne traces d'humidité sur le devant au coin inferieur droit, petite usure coin inferieur et supérieur gauche, usure bord droit de l'ouverture avec léger décollement et petits plis  de la pellicule laminée. Tranche acceptable et lisible mais avec un petit manque de la pellicule laminée (1/2 cm2). le manque déborde un peu sur le devant. Dos: traces d'humidité anciennes et sèches bord inférieur gauche, avec carton sous-jacent moins rigide, taches diverses. Présence d'un joli sticker d'un beau rouge fuchsia "SONICA", 2 place du jeu de balle à  BRUXELLES (avec N° téléphone à 6 chiffres !!!) Je sors le disque (avec sa sous-pochette) de sa pochette cartonnée, car sinon le disque peut bouger et faire des trous dans la pochette (vécu en tant qu’acheteur).
