It has a black-and-white E-ink screen that is easy on the eyes, just like paper, and even feels like it when writing, sketching or marking text on it. As I understand it, the screen is reacting directly to the marker's touch, even before digitising the input, which makes it react way faster than any other paper-like tablet on the market. It has multi-touch capacity, so you can zoom into documents (really useful for multi-column layouts) or turn page. The reMarkable 1 also has hardware buttons, which are easier to use with holding the device in one hand. Working with documents Since plenty of documents out there are in A4 PDF, the device's 10,3" size is perfect. You just upload the PDF in the reMarkable app on your computer or mobile device, and the device will sync. You then can use your marker to highlight text parts, circle them and write notes in the margins. If you're working on Chrome, you can install an add-on and just print a website to reMarkable as well. There's a small catch, though: While e-books are supported, DRM protection is not.
