As you may know, Orville was a brand of guitars run by the Gibson Guitar Corporation for the Japanese domestic market during the late 1980s and most of the 1990s. The guitars were designed to the highest standards, mimicking to perfection the most valuable Gibson guitars. Though they were not initially made for export, second hand Orvilles have since travelled the world, and because of their rarity have gained a cult-like following over the years. This is one is among the earliest Orvilles from 1989, as evidenced by the K-09 serial sticker on the back of the headstock, and is a great exemple of the exceptional japanese crafstmanship of the era. The guitar is in very nice shape, with the patina of a well cared for 30+ year old guitar: there's tarnishing on the gold pickups and hardware, some tiny marks here and there that I tried my best to photograph, but overall a very well preserved instrument. Neck is arrow straight and true with low action, fret job is flawless. A real easy player. It is also a light and resonant one, with a weight of only 3.82 kg measured on a digital scale (that's 8.42 lbs). Rings out clearly unplugged, sounds amazing plugged in. Biete hier eine GUILD Bluesbird mit P90 Pickups inclusive Original Case an. Die Gitarre wurde laut Serien-Nr. 2001 gebaut und ist sehr schwer zu finden. In der Farbe Black Cherry AAA Top habe ich sie bisher auch noch nie gesehen.... man findet sie jedoch im Fender Frontline 2001. Der Originalkoffer ist dabei. Die Gitarre ist sehr gepflegt und hat nur leichte Spielspuren. Besondere Merkmale sind neben der Farbgebung und den beiden P90 Pickups der etwas größere LP-Style Korpus, der durch die "Chambered" Ausführung auch sehr leicht ist und der etwas breitere Hals. Durch das Sonnenlicht ist der Rotanteil etwas besser zu sehen, ansonsten wirkt sie eher schwarz. Ich habe einfach zu viele Gitarren und spiele immer mehr Akustikgitarre, weshalb diese Schönheit jetzt gehen muss und in hoffentlich gute Hände kommt. These were Greco's top of the line offerings, and are true yachts, with all the bling appointments: carved maple top, long neck tenon, block pearl inlays, PAF pickups, braided pickup leads, full-size pots with witch hat knobs, and a hand-carved bone nut. These Greco guitars have a cult following all their own, and were head and shoulders above Gibson's of the period.  This one is no exception, and plays like a dream. Neck is arrow straight and true with low action, and the original humbuckers scream. Starting with the neck:  22 fret maple neck, C medium profile, very similar to Hoscos, bought in the US this time, 9,5" radius. Frets have been leveled already, lovely Aged Amber finish and Allparts machine heads. The body is a 2-piece Alder from UK, Fender vintage specs, slightly transparent BBlonde nitro finish, more of a distressed look. The back is so sweet, man, I'm very proud of it! Gotoh/Göldo hardware, Alpha 3-way switch, Göldo 250k A and B pots, aged black pickguard.
