Allez hop, pour les 40 ans de cet album de legende, un petit com'. "Master of reality" (1971), troisieme album du Sab' fait suite aux deux premiers monuments du groupe, parus tous les deux l'annee precedente. Et devant le succes de Paranoid, il convenait de ne pas se planter car le groupe etait attendu au tournant, autant par ses fans que par ses detracteurs. Bah oui, si on pouvait un peu casser ce groupe qui, contrairement a toute attente (des medias), remportait un succes grandissant... Mais, helas pour ces derniers (qui trouveront quand meme des choses a redire), Black Sabbath a reussi son pari. L'album, certes tres court, est une reussite. Le sulfureux "Sweat leaf" qui ouvre le bal suivi de "After forever" va mettre tout le monde d'accord. La guitare, accordee bien bas, donne aux riffs une profondeur jamais atteinte pour l'epoque. Deux morceaux d'anthologie, qui vont faire la renommee du groupe. Tout comme "Children of the grave", introduit par le petit instrumental "Embryo". Ce titre est sans doute l'un des plus emblematique du Sab', un des plus joue par le groupe sur scene (ainsi que par Ozzy en solo) et repris un nombre incalculable de fois par d'autres groupes. "Lord of this world" qui suit (egalement introduit par un autre bref instrumental) montre le cote le plus Heavy du groupe avec son riff d'une lourdeur implacable. Ozzy est en grande forme sur cet album et nous montre toute l'etendue de son talent sur "Solitude", une tres belle chanson dans la continuite du "Planet caravan" sur "Paranoid". L'album s'acheve sur "Into the void", pas le plus connu des titres du Sab' mais encore un morceau porte par un riff monstrueux de puissance. D'ailleurs, ce "Master of reality" est le royaume du riff de guitare par excellence. 34 petites minutes au compteur mais peu importe. Black Sabbath signe la son troisieme chef d'oeuvre, devenant par cette occasion la valeur sure du Rock bien lourd de ce debut des seventies. Une reference. Lire la suite ? Le successeur de "Paranoid" Cet album est le troisieme de Black Sabbath et est le successeur de "Paranoid" (Paranoid). Difficile de succeder a "Paranoid", sur lequel tout a ete dit et ecrit ou presque. "Master of Reality" est cependant une oeuvre importante dans l'histoire du groupe. Tout d'abord, cet opus est riche en titres phares "Sweet Leaf" est une ouverture magistrale, suivie des excellents "After Forever", "Children Of The Grave", du fabuleux "Lord Of This World" et du genial "Into The Void", sans doute un des meilleurs morceaux jamais ecrits par le groupe, que Monster Magnet a repris sur le second volet d'une compilation hommage, "Nativity in Black" (voir Nativity In Black 2 - A Tribute To Black Sabbath). Ensuite, on a l'impression que Tony Iommi commence a exprimer son penchant pour les experimentations en ecrivant des instrumentaux ("Embryo", franchement dispensable et mediocre et "Orchid", deja nettement meilleur) et des ballades comme "Solitude", superbe de melancolie et aux arrangements tres reussis. In the 1960s he accompanied Marlene Dietrich, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis and Charles Aznavour, and in 1970 added the tuba, working as a studio musician and recording with Michel Legrand, Vladimir Cosma, Michel Colombier and others. From 1973 to 1983 he accompanied Claude Nougaro with Eddie Louiss and Maurice Vander, and played in the orchestras of Martial Solal, Michel Portal and others.  In 1981 he formed his own group, the "Steckar Tubapack", and his first recording in 1982 won the Prix Boris Vian, awarded by the Académie de Jazz. Marc Steckar has recorded over twenty discs using the tuba and in 1990 he started to mix the tuba with other ensembles, big bands, brass bands, wind bands, and choirs. In 1994 he composed several concertos for tuba, euphoniums and trombones and in 1999 received the Sacem Prix Printemps.
