Je sors le disque (avec sa sous-pochette) de sa pochette cartonnée, car sinon le disque peut bouger et faire des trous dans la pochette (vécu en tant qu’acheteur). Puis j’ajoute 3 couches de protection : 1.    pochette en plastique comme celle que vous trouvez chez un disquaire. 2.    enveloppe à bulles avec des cales pour assurer l’écart avec le 3ème niveau. 3.    carton cannelé haute qualité, très rigide, avec la mention « fragile »   Shipping with Mondial Relay tracking, perfectly reliable. I have shipped hundreds of discs and have never encountered any problems. Here is my method. I take the disc (with its under-cover) out of its cardboard cover, because otherwise the disc can move and make holes in the cover (experienced as a buyer). Then I add 3 layers of protection: 1. plastic pouch like the one you find at a record store. 2. bubble wrap with shims to ensure the gap with the 3rd level. 3. high quality fluted cardboard, very rigid, with the mention "fragile"

On the contrary, the record sounds like the culmination of a band's efforts over many years. The group has a distinct sound of its own, often led by Hornsby's bright piano chords and elastic tenor, with cohesive and evocative arrangements; there is new age music here, as well as jazz and country, and the mixture is presented naturally by musicians who seem to have been playing with each other for some time. Similarly, the songwriting has its own flavor. Hornsby wrote seven of the nine songs with his brother John Hornsby, and they create their own world, a working-class environment of longing and loneliness set against the background of the Virginia Tidewater area. (The album cover displays a sepia-toned photograph of the band set over another photograph of the long Chesapeake Bay Bridge.) The lyrics are lightly poetic and restrained, for the most part. The exception is the title song (written by Bruce Hornsby alone), a brave if somewhat clumsily written attack on the heartless right-wing politics of the mid-'80s, as the U.S. suffered through a second Reagan administration determined to roll back civil rights gains. The boldness of the statement and the lovely piano theme more than compensate for the awkward writing, however, making the song one of the album's most memorable. And that's saying a lot when the competition includes the engaging "Mandolin Rain" and the appealingly romantic "Every Little Kiss" (Hornsby's other sole writing credit). Perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that the music is so accomplished. Hornsby was no teenage neophyte when he made it, having kicked around the music business and gotten into his thirties, and the band includes such veterans as David Mansfield, who may be remembered as a member of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder troupe and the Alpha Band, as well as being a film composer. Sometimes a debut album just happens to be the first music most people get to hear by a mature talent, and that's the case here on the debut album of the year. Bruce Springteen streets of philadelphia 12" Picture disc rare !!! "Streets of Philadelphia" is a song written and performed by American rock musician Bruce Springsteen for the film Philadelphia (1993) starring Tom Hanks, an early mainstream film dealing with HIV/AIDS. Released as a single in 1994, the song was a hit in many countries, particularly in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, and Norway, where it topped the singles charts. In the United States, the single peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. The song received acclaim and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and four Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo, and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television. In 2004, it finished at number 68 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. The song is listed among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. In early 1993, Philadelphia director Jonathan Demme asked Springsteen to write a song for his film, adding "I want it to play in the malls." Springsteen replied, "Well, I'm interested, so I'd like to come up with a song for you. If you give me some time, I'll see, but I can't promise." Springsteen recalled adding, "I'm not very good at scores". In late August, after the conclusion of the "Other Band" Tour, he recorded a demo of his completed song at Thrill Hill Recording, Beverly Hills, California (his home studio), supplying all of the instrumentation. He mailed the tape to Demme, who later said, "my wife and I sat down and listened to it, and we were literally weeping by the end". Meanwhile, background vocals were added by Tommy Sims (from the "Other Band"). In October, Springsteen recorded it at A&M Studios in Los Angeles, with Sims, Ornette Coleman on saxophone, and vocals by "Little" Jimmy Scott. There is unstinting excellence and unflagging attention to detail; all the while knowing that no one is likely to get rich from this record, or this music, even though they really should. Specifically, because like many listeners of my advanced age, I fell in love with the music via a sound similar to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers—those little big bands (or are they large small ensembles?)— that mix genuine funk with elegant sophistication, delivered by exquisitely arranged multi-horn line-ups. De Preissac clearly draws on this inspiration as well. The expertly navigated changes in meter and tempo are right out of the Wayne Shorter-era Jazz Messengers. The always subtly surprising tonal colors in de Preissac's arrangements recall the arranging work of his compatriot, flautist Christophe dal Sasso's Exploration (Nocturne, 2006). There are further parallels. Drummer Andréa Michelutti, like Blakey, favors the booming lower range of his kit. De Preissac, for his part, calls to mind some of the best qualities of the playing of various Jazz Messengers pianists (Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller): a round, gospel-tinged sound, a slight florid tendency to the baroque, all the better to be heard over and between the large-ish ensemble. In de Preissac's case, these characteristics are overlaid with classical elements as well (as on his solo on "Minor's Mood"). As a brief cross-section of the players' strengths, listen to the sequence of short solos on "Jungleblues," which sounds for all the world like a Jazz Messengers show closer. Tenor saxophonist Jean-Christophe Béney is firmly in the tradition (though elsewhere on the record he favors ever so slightly "out" sonorities) and equally in control. As does trumpeter and composer Fabien Mary, who insistently splits the beats of his solos. For a bit of contrast, Michaël Chéret, on alto sax, heads for more angular territory, Eric Dolphy style, only to be followed by trombonist Mickaël Joussein's very cool sound on top of the rhythm. Generally, in the sense that Retrouvailles evinces, from beginning to end, that paradoxical mixture of solidarity in the pursuit of a collective goal, together with competitive individual excellence that makes jazz great. There is unstinting excellence and unflagging attention to detail; all the while knowing that no one is likely to get rich from this record, or this music, even though they really should. Specifically, because like many listeners of my advanced age, I fell in love with the music via a sound similar to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers—those little big bands (or are they large small ensembles?)— that mix genuine funk with elegant sophistication, delivered by exquisitely arranged multi-horn line-ups. De Preissac clearly draws on this inspiration as well. The expertly navigated changes in meter and tempo are right out of the Wayne Shorter-era Jazz Messengers. The always subtly surprising tonal colors in de Preissac's arrangements recall the arranging work of his compatriot, flautist Christophe dal Sasso's Exploration (Nocturne, 2006). There are further parallels. Drummer Andréa Michelutti, like Blakey, favors the booming lower range of his kit. De Preissac, for his part, calls to mind some of the best qualities of the playing of various Jazz Messengers pianists (Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller): a round, gospel-tinged sound, a slight florid tendency to the baroque, all the better to be heard over and between the large-ish ensemble. In de Preissac's case, these characteristics are overlaid with classical elements as well (as on his solo on b'"'Minor's Moodb'"'). As a brief cross-section of the players' strengths, listen to the sequence of short solos on b'"'Jungleblues,b'"' which sounds for all the world like a Jazz Messengers show closer. Tenor saxophonist Jean-Christophe Béney is firmly in the tradition (though elsewhere on the record he favors ever so slightly b'"'outb'"' sonorities) and equally in control. As does trumpeter and composer Fabien Mary, who insistently splits the beats of his solos. For a bit of contrast, Michaël Chéret, on alto sax, heads for more angular territory, Eric Dolphy style, only to be followed by trombonist Mickaël Joussein's very cool sound on top of the rhythm. The leader takes a crystalline turn, followed by an arco episode from bassist Manuel Marchès and a brief trading of fours with drummer Michelutti. And that's not even the record's finest number. EX (EXCELLENT) Very clean copy, some insignificant surfaces marks (hairlines). This record has been rarely played, on good equipment and treated with care. The cover has very minor flaws: a name or discrete initials, low wear corners, very slight ringwear. VG + + (VERY GOOD + +) More surface marks.Minor flaws or cover wear, minor edge wear. This is generally the grade given to a 20 to 50 years old record with a "normal" life, treated with care, but listened and handled regularly by his former owner. VG + (VERY GOOD +) Has been played a lot, shows multiple slight surface marks (hairlines) generating background noise between songs but no jump or skips. Cover shows important signs of age and storage (slice corners worn, name, date, dedication, tears, etc....). Generally, this record was one of the favorites among previous owner discotheque, went from hand to hand, had to animate some parties and bears the scars of a busy life. VG (VERY GOOD) The record is very worn, has been played a lot, shows important scratches that are creating permanent background noises but do not skip or jump. Cd plays fine. less than EX- when the condition is less than EX I don t grade it VG because in french "VG" means "VERY GOOD" and I can t say a cd with many visible scratches is in very good condition. so under Ex/EX-, I will only describe the cd condition with words like: "many visible surface marks or many scratches or deep scratches" all the CD I list plays fine despite their condition less than EX. anyway if one day a cd doesn t play fine, the buyer can send it back and get a refund. if a cd has scratches they go through silver layer and usual we can see they from both sides of the CD I usually don t sell it or damages will be described in item s condition. Following their post-modern vibe further into Brian Eno's futuristic sound-space, U2 have now floated so far out of their customary atmosphere they've even abandoned their moniker. And with good reason. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1, a loose collection of compositions written for films which may or may not exist, resembles a U2 album in only the vaguest of ways--it is basically a Brian Eno concoction, with Ireland's finest contributing not much more than their distinctive instrumental feel and Bono's new-found subtlety around a vocal mic. Yet these characteristics are enough to identify the participants, and to raise Passengers above the standard electronic/ambient din that has taken over clubland in the 1990s. ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1 is not strictly an experimental excursion. While much of the album follows the atmospheric norm of Eno's own Soundtracks series (after which this project was named), there are a number of traditional "songs" interspersed between the synthetic canvases, and most of these are softer extensions on the ZOOROPA aesthetic. "Slug" finds Bono whispering wishes over tension-filled keyboard washes and layers of rhythm. "Your Blue Room," a relaxed kin to "One" and "The Unforgettable Fire," is U2 playing Tindersticks--full of menacing organ, faint, Duane Eddy-like guitar, and starring Larry Mullen, Jr. as a Euro Funky Drummer. Finest among these surreal moves is "Miss Sarajevo," which uses Luciano Pavarotti's tenor as a voice of empowered grief in the melancholy story of a war-torn beauty contest. When ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS 1 moves outward, it flies in the direction of the nearest rave--adding world-wide rhythms to Eno's ambient soundscapes, to form a compass of emotions. "United Colours" is a straight-up techno track with passing samples of scratched records, fly-by vehicles and looped voices. "One Minute Warning" is an eerie alarm, complete with African and electronic beats, a machine-gun ticker-tape pulse, and an incomprehensible Eno-led choir seemingly ushering in the apocalypse. The album ends with a mixture of the two explored worlds: "Theme From Let's Go Native" is a bit of tribal rockisms, led by a stray dub bassline and Edge's simple chords. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable location. Also, a VG+ cover may have some defacing, such as a cut-out marking. Covers with cut-out markings can never be considered Near Mint. VERY GOOD (VG) Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ record are more obvious on a VG record.
