It was attached to the bayonet mount of the camera and provided such a mount for the lens, adding about 20mm to the lens extension. A lever was used to move a selenium photocell in the light path and remove it before releasing the shutter. A pair of sockets have been provided for an external ammeter. The user would take a series of test images, save the readings, then use the saved settings as needed. It wasn't the easiest procedure compared to today's expectations, but it was back when you were supposed to know what you were doing.
