Lavish 5 Light Vintage French Bronze and Crystal Chandelier A stunning chandelier richly enhanced with flamboyant bronze detailing and masses of sparkling crystal drops.     The ceiling rose is beautifully embossed with swathes of furling plumes around the undulating rim and has fluting radiating from the centre. The chain has alternate plain and delicate fancy links. On top of the central column is a bronze tracery rose in the form of an acanthus flower enhanced by three pairs of multi faceted crystal drops attached around the rim. Below this t he slender top section of the central column is delicately textured and sits on a large cup at the base which is richly embossed with furled plumes. The centre body of the light has sumptuously sculpted feathers and acanthus leaves both top and bottom and a plain band encircles the centre. The five opulent arms extend from here each one with a stunning array of feathered plumes and curlicues sweeping along the length. They are all further embellished by two large pairs of glistening button and lattice cut almond crystal drops suspended from them. At each end the candle cups match the rose at the top of the central column, each one also having three further sets of crystals and all are complete with faux candle sleeves. This splendid chandelier is completed with a large bronze finial in the centre base from which is suspended a final large pair of crystal drops. It is in very good vintage condition, the bronze has a fine aged patina and the high quality crystal drops are all complete and undamaged. Superb Vintage French 6 Light Empire Chandelier in Bronze A stunning six light vintage chandelier with striking neo classic features and made from the finest quality bronze. The deep centre of the ceiling rose has embossed plumes at the centre on a scalloped fluted backdrop and a plain band around the edge gives a nicely defined circular rim. The short chain has two large angular links with a round link in the middle and joins to the top of the central column on a large scrolled hook. The exquisite central column of the chandelier is in a classic empire urn shape with heavy bronze appliques decorating it. A wide band encircling the top has two lines of delicate stippling going around it, and at the base is a magnificent garland of intricately embossed laurel leaves which in roman times symbolised health and prosperity. The central column of the chandelier is mounted on a very shapely pedestal with a sharply defined circlet of stipples around the middle. Below this is the smooth domed centre of the light which has a beautifully etched bronze band around the centre. The six superb arms extend from the centre band each held in place with a ribbed capital. Curving out from strong capitals on the inner end, they are embellished with detailed acanthus leaves unfurling along the centre on a textured backdrop and finish with strong empire capitals at the ends.url out. The elegant circular candle cups at each end have stylish fluting on the base and stipples at the rim with the fluted light holders standing high in the centre. All are complete with faux candle sleeves. The wide and shapely base of the chandelier has another applique of laurel leaves set in the centre and is completed by a large bronze torchere finial in the centre. This beautiful chandelier is in excellent vintage condition, and the heavy cast bronze whilst showing a few marks commensurate with age has gained a fabulous timeworn patina over the years, you could polish it to a high shine if you wish but I leave this as a matter for the owner to decide.   A stunning light with striking good looks it has all the classic elegance and design features of the period and it would be a magnificent addition to any home.
