***RELISTED*** Please look carefully at all the pictures so you know what you're buying. This beautiful Eterna from 1942 has aged incredibly well. The dial has a glorious even, golden crackled patina, and the radium lume on the hands and digits is a deep cream. (The lume no longer glows). The watch works flawlessly, keeping excellent time. The crown is easy to wind with no play or wobble, and once fully wound the watch runs for around 30-40 hours. The unpolished case and back have no marks. The movement is clean. The lugs are drilled making strap changes straightforward. The acrylic crystal is new. Overall this is a stunning vintage piece, 78 years old but still running as if it had just left the Eterna workshop in Switzerland. Service history is unknown, but I've worn it hassle-free so I imagine it's been looked at not too long ago (before I acquired it). It comes on a new leather strap that suits it well (20mm strap squeezed into 19mm lugs). However, put this on your favourite strap when you get it to really make it your own. Has the emblematic pusher at 2 for the day changing. - Case: all steel, some very light scratches, the rotating bezel has a few marks between 3 and 4, but hardly visible. The crown and pusher have smooth operations, and are scratch free. The glass has a veeery small ding at 5, otherwise absolutely perfect ! - Dial: spotless black with lumed indexes (strong lume !), the day and date work as they should; The hands are lumed, except the red tipped second one. - Movement: runs very accurately (10-15s/day), the self winding makes start the watch after just a few movements, if they could all be so good... - Bracelet: original Orient one, in solid steel. Some scratches here and there, but nothing serious. The clasp has a double security. The original rubber straps make part of the lot. A very good Orient Mako 1, that is in very good condition ! Citizen Worldtimer (GMT) 68-0516  1973 All Original  Never relume - never polished Caliber 7450 JUST SERVICED 2X Citizen Original Crowns ungraved CTZ The feeling you get when you strap it on your wrist is like no other. The light is passing through the acrylic crystal and bouncing back from the silver dial, the inner rotating bezel with all those cities… The case is made of stainless steel, 42 mm diameter (rather large even for today’s standards), with a cushion shape. The frontal side is brushed, in a circular motion and the sides and the part where the bracelet connects to the case are polished. There is also a polished bezel that holds the domed acrylic crystal. The shape of the case protects the twin crowns (signed “CTZ”), one for winding the watch and one for rotating the inner city bezel. The SS caseback is screwed in, marked “parawater”. Parawater is a term used by Citizen to describe what later will become “water resistant”. The dial is silver with applied Citizen logo and hour markers. They have green luminescent material applied. There is luminescent material on the hands too, except for the seconds hand that is polished and the “GMT” hand that is short and painted red.  The 24 hours ring might be all black or half blue, half black (just as the 2014 released Rolex GMT – ceramic bezel – 40 years later). The movement is automatic with hand winding capability, hacking seconds calibre 7450, with 21 Jewels. Just as all the other Citizen movement this one is nothing fancy, just a simple working, reliable one. As time passes, you learn to  really appreciate the simplicity of Citizen movement, the sound of it, the movement of the hands…  The date is quickset and it beats at 21.600 bph. The year this one was introduced was 1971. The nice thing about this movement is that added to the three classic hands, there is a forth one (the red small one) that is circling the dial once every 24 hours. In order to operate the Worldtimer function you need to use the 24 hours hand and the inner bezel. You have to rotate the inner bezel until the timezone where you are in is opposite to the 24 hours hand. Then you have to look for the city you want to know the time in and read the time on the inner 24 hours ring, next to that city. A real traveller watch, so entertaining to operate, so simple and so clever, nice wrist presence and gorgeous!

En triant mon  stock d' aiguilles anciennes,  j' ai retrouvé cette aiguille dans un  lot de 5  aiguilles de seconde  chronomètre  dans une pochette identifiée comme "  Echantillons  La Pratique - chronographe Heuer   "  +2 autres à  part adressées à l' atelier d' horlogerie sans autres indications. Mon  stock vient  d' un  atelier de sous traitance horlogère du Haut Doubs, qui a  arrêté cette activité en  1976  et  entretenu une activité limitée de SAV pendant  quelques années de plus. Il  était  courant  pour les horlogers du  Jura  dans les années 60-70 de rechercher des alternatives locales  pour limiter  leurs achats au  voisin suisse et les taxes douanières correspondantes.  Cette aiguille semble correspondre aux premières variantes de Heuer Autavia ou  Carrera ,  mais c 'est  sans aucune garantie,  car compte tenu du nombre important de variantes et  de ma connaissance limitée des chronographes Heuer classiques,  je n' ai  pas été capable d' identifier plus précisément l' affectation  d 'où mon  prix probablement sous évalué. La longueur complète est de 16 mm et  13 mm du  centre à la pointe,  canon pour Valjoux 72 ou  7730,  l' aiguille semble n' avoir jamais été montée mais a été préparée par le fabricant  La Pratique ou par l' horloger qui  lui  a donné une légère courbure  pour suivre celle du  cadran.   Aucun  retour sur fournitures horlogères __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As I was sorting out my  vintage hands boxes,  I have found  this  sweep second chronometer hand    in a batch  of 5 together  + 2  in  a small  box labelled as " Echantillons - La Pratique - chronographe Heuer" and adressed to  the watchmaker's workshop. My stock  has been found in  a watch  assembly subcontractor's based in Haut Doubs -  France,  closed in 1976 with a remaining  aftersales service for some more years. In  the 60-70's,  the watchmakers based on  the french side were looking  at  buying  all  possible local alternatives to  swiss parts and relevant  customs taxes.  I am  not  an expert in vintage Heuer chronographs and many  different executions have been  issued, so  I have not  been  able to determine what   versions it  would match exactly:  early  Autavia or Carrera ...?  I cannot  guarantee anything  but  it  is probably  valuable and underpriced. Complete lenght is 16mm and  13 mm from  center to  tip,  tube for  Valjoux 72 or  7730,  this hand looks unused but  prepared either by  La Pratique  or by a watchmaker  for fitting  on  dial curve  .  No return  on  horological parts.

The watch is rserviced, cleaned, oiled by me and works perfectly, I guarantee it for 6 months. It presents so well that I was told it looks like the reissue, yet it is the original from the 60's. The dial and hands are in excellent condition. The crystal is in good condition. The case wears normal scratches from use. One of the crowns is new. The bottom has marks but the logo remains clearly visible. The Milanese mesh bracelet is new. These are special watches, very endearing, very solid and reliable.
