While Wetzlar's Ernst Leitz firm established the 24mm × 36mm negative format on 35mm perforated motion picture film as a viable photographic system, Zeiss Ikon of Dresden decided to produce a competitor designed to be superior in all respects. Tested with film before sale: negative clean, sharp, good contrast. Cosmetics: Very light signs of use. A small black screw retouch mark on an internal metal retaining ring (see front photos) comes from an internal clean some while ago and does not affect performance in any way (tested with film as above). Mechanical & Electonic: Tested before advertising. All functions ‘as good as new’. Zoom and focus rings are smooth, firm, precise. Auto / manual diapraghm action crisp. Optical: Glass clean and clear; no fungus or haze. Few internal dust specs, no effect on optical performance, which is ‘as good as new’. Front filter always fitted.
