This French bolster / traversin pillow case is VINTAGE but  Brand New made Fleur Bleue  Linen Metis  by Garner Thiebaut it is top quality beautifully hand embroidered with a decorative ladder edge on each end & the inside finish is equally special. These were a rare find part of a dowry linens collection.  I have 5 of these at the start of this listing, shipping costs are reduced for multi purchases   I have another lot listed that are slightly larger.  Measures:- Length 190 cm = 74 ins  Width 87 cm = 34 ins when laid flat 17 ins   What is metis linen? Metis means "mix" The French seem to have the innate ability to blend beauty and utility creating wonderful everyday items like this monogrammed metis linen sheet   Metis means "mix" which is exactly what metis linen is, usually a mix of 35% cotton and 65% linen  Pure linen in the warp or woof and cotton in the weft or warp.  (although other fibre combinations were also woven such as 30/70 or 70/30.) Metis linen is the "workhorse" of French bedding.It is a heavy-duty fabric designed to be washed repeatedly and to stand up to the rough washing techniques of long ago.  Appearing in France in the early 1900s, metis linen was introduced as a less expensive bedding material than pure linen, it is easier to iron, and  It quickly became a welcomed wedding gift or part of a young girl's dowry.  Metis linen has been handed down through generations   DIRECT FROM FRANCE I am also listing other bed linens pillow cases etc.

Parure datant des années 50  très bon état (juste une légère trace sur le revers mais que la photo ne révèle pas) Le drap d'1 personne est de grande dimension et est parfaitement adapté à des largeurs de lits anciens type 100 ou 110 cm de large.

Lot de 3 anciennes taies d'oreiller en coton ou métis.. Photos 2&3: taie d'oreiller simple en métis, juste soulignée par un petit point bourdon, dimensions utiles 62 X 62 cm, fermée à l'arrière par quatre boutons. Très bon état Photos 4&5: taie d'oreiller en coton, soulignée par un rang de jolis jours échelle faits main, fermeture housse, dimensions utiles 61 X 59 cm. Très bon état. Photos 6&7: taie d'oreiller en métis, avec monogramme RG et une rangée de jolis jours échelle faits main, fermée à l'arrière par 3 boutons, dimensions utiles 58 X 62 cm. Très bon état
