Mais aucun défaut majeur. Il se peut aussi qu'elle soit en parfaite état mais présente un poinson ou une extrémité biseautée. Le cd a quelques rayures qui n'affectent pas la qualité sonore. G = Bon etat La pochette est usée avec des plis, des marques, des décollements, une usure des bords, des décolorations, un début de marque circulaire du disque sur la pochette. Les signes de l'âge sont présents. Le cd a des rayures et marques qui n'affectent pas la qualité sonore. F = Etat moyen L'état de la pochette est proche de celui de VG- avec en plus des écritures, un papier gondolé à cause de l'humidité, des déchirures sur les bords... La qualité du son est détériorée par les nombreuses lectures, il peut y avoir des sautements. Exemple: EX/VG Pochette en excellent etat / Disque en tres bon etat. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° ---------------------------- °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Record condition : The sleeve is graded first. EX = Excellent The cover and packaging might have slight wear but excellent aspect overall. The cd may show some tiny signs of having been played. VG = Very good Cover shows some hanling imperfection like normal wear and tear, price tag, creasing... Cover can also be in mint condition but there is a DJ or promo copy stamp or cut in the corner. The CD has been played few times and displays  occasional light marks or scratches. Does not affect quality sound.G = Good Cover suffers from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration... Now the signs of age and handling are starting to show. You can notice some clear wear on the surface. Does not affect quality sound. F = Fair The cover and contents can be torn, stained and/or defaced, there also can be some writing on it. C'est la raison pour laquelle je propose des photos permettant de se faire une idée de l'état de l'objet (parfois des extraits également). J'essaie de décrire au mieux l'objet tel qu'il est, mais je suis bien évidemment disponible pour répondre à toutes vos questions. Generally, in the sense that Retrouvailles evinces, from beginning to end, that paradoxical mixture of solidarity in the pursuit of a collective goal, together with competitive individual excellence that makes jazz great. There is unstinting excellence and unflagging attention to detail; all the while knowing that no one is likely to get rich from this record, or this music, even though they really should. Specifically, because like many listeners of my advanced age, I fell in love with the music via a sound similar to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers—those little big bands (or are they large small ensembles?)— that mix genuine funk with elegant sophistication, delivered by exquisitely arranged multi-horn line-ups. De Preissac clearly draws on this inspiration as well. The expertly navigated changes in meter and tempo are right out of the Wayne Shorter-era Jazz Messengers. The always subtly surprising tonal colors in de Preissac's arrangements recall the arranging work of his compatriot, flautist Christophe dal Sasso's Exploration (Nocturne, 2006). There are further parallels. Drummer Andréa Michelutti, like Blakey, favors the booming lower range of his kit. De Preissac, for his part, calls to mind some of the best qualities of the playing of various Jazz Messengers pianists (Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller): a round, gospel-tinged sound, a slight florid tendency to the baroque, all the better to be heard over and between the large-ish ensemble. In de Preissac's case, these characteristics are overlaid with classical elements as well (as on his solo on "Minor's Mood"). As a brief cross-section of the players' strengths, listen to the sequence of short solos on "Jungleblues," which sounds for all the world like a Jazz Messengers show closer. Tenor saxophonist Jean-Christophe Béney is firmly in the tradition (though elsewhere on the record he favors ever so slightly "out" sonorities) and equally in control. As does trumpeter and composer Fabien Mary, who insistently splits the beats of his solos. For a bit of contrast, Michaël Chéret, on alto sax, heads for more angular territory, Eric Dolphy style, only to be followed by trombonist Mickaël Joussein's very cool sound on top of the rhythm. The leader takes a crystalline turn, followed by an arco episode from bassist Manuel Marchès and a brief trading of fours with drummer Michelutti. And that's not even the record's finest number. Generally, in the sense that Retrouvailles evinces, from beginning to end, that paradoxical mixture of solidarity in the pursuit of a collective goal, together with competitive individual excellence that makes jazz great. There is unstinting excellence and unflagging attention to detail; all the while knowing that no one is likely to get rich from this record, or this music, even though they really should. Specifically, because like many listeners of my advanced age, I fell in love with the music via a sound similar to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers—those little big bands (or are they large small ensembles?)— that mix genuine funk with elegant sophistication, delivered by exquisitely arranged multi-horn line-ups. De Preissac clearly draws on this inspiration as well. The expertly navigated changes in meter and tempo are right out of the Wayne Shorter-era Jazz Messengers. The always subtly surprising tonal colors in de Preissac's arrangements recall the arranging work of his compatriot, flautist Christophe dal Sasso's Exploration (Nocturne, 2006). There are further parallels. Drummer Andréa Michelutti, like Blakey, favors the booming lower range of his kit. De Preissac, for his part, calls to mind some of the best qualities of the playing of various Jazz Messengers pianists (Horace Silver, Bobby Timmons, Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller): a round, gospel-tinged sound, a slight florid tendency to the baroque, all the better to be heard over and between the large-ish ensemble. In de Preissac's case, these characteristics are overlaid with classical elements as well (as on his solo on "Minor's Mood"). As a brief cross-section of the players' strengths, listen to the sequence of short solos on "Jungleblues," which sounds for all the world like a Jazz Messengers show closer. Tenor saxophonist Jean-Christophe Béney is firmly in the tradition (though elsewhere on the record he favors ever so slightly "out" sonorities) and equally in control. As does trumpeter and composer Fabien Mary, who insistently splits the beats of his solos. For a bit of contrast, Michaël Chéret, on alto sax, heads for more angular territory, Eric Dolphy style, only to be followed by trombonist Mickaël Joussein's very cool sound on top of the rhythm. The leader takes a crystalline turn, followed by an arco episode from bassist Manuel Marchès and a brief trading of fours with drummer Michelutti. And that's not even the record's finest number. The group has a distinct sound of its own, often led by Hornsby's bright piano chords and elastic tenor, with cohesive and evocative arrangements; there is new age music here, as well as jazz and country, and the mixture is presented naturally by musicians who seem to have been playing with each other for some time. Similarly, the songwriting has its own flavor. Hornsby wrote seven of the nine songs with his brother John Hornsby, and they create their own world, a working-class environment of longing and loneliness set against the background of the Virginia Tidewater area. (The album cover displays a sepia-toned photograph of the band set over another photograph of the long Chesapeake Bay Bridge.) The lyrics are lightly poetic and restrained, for the most part. The exception is the title song (written by Bruce Hornsby alone), a brave if somewhat clumsily written attack on the heartless right-wing politics of the mid-'80s, as the U.S. suffered through a second Reagan administration determined to roll back civil rights gains. The boldness of the statement and the lovely piano theme more than compensate for the awkward writing, however, making the song one of the album's most memorable. And that's saying a lot when the competition includes the engaging "Mandolin Rain" and the appealingly romantic "Every Little Kiss" (Hornsby's other sole writing credit). Perhaps it shouldn't be a surprise that the music is so accomplished. Hornsby was no teenage neophyte when he made it, having kicked around the music business and gotten into his thirties, and the band includes such veterans as David Mansfield, who may be remembered as a member of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder troupe and the Alpha Band, as well as being a film composer. Sometimes a debut album just happens to be the first music most people get to hear by a mature talent, and that's the case here on the debut album of the year. Date of release is unknow but could be (with  all reserve)  in the 1962 - 1963 period, (first USA release  in 1962) Ce disque pressé pour la France est  très rare ETAT DU VINYLE - CONDITIONS  VG + pour le disque  - Record grading VG+   Used but  Plays very well and sounds great Just very light crackling at some points. Record surfaces show almost no signs of wear, are very clean. One or two very light scratches (light speedle mark that don't affect at all the good listening.) Has not been very listened before...could be VG++ but prefer say VG+. The band was formed in 1969 by guitarists Kazuo Takeda and Koh Eiryu and singer Fumio Nunoya following the dissolution of their group sounds band The Bickies. In October ’69 they released their self-titled debut album of American blues covers. After some line-up changes, August 1971 saw the release of their first album of original material, Demon & Eleven Children. That year they also released Carmen Maki & Blues Creation, which had the band fronted by female vocalist Carmen Maki. This copy is a 1975 issue, very rare but not as the first Denon press which can reach prices of up to 800€!
