The exterior is in very good condition, with a small amount of paint loss which can be seen in the product photos on careful inspection. The glass is in excellent condition, and the interior is very clean with limited dust. The focusing ring turns smoothly and with no play, and the tilt and shift movements are all working perfectly. There is a tiny mark on the front element, which is only visible at certain angles. We have gone to some trouble to ensure it is plainly visible in the product photo of the front of the lens. It is a very light scuff to the anti-reflective coating on this element. We believe this will have zero impact on any photos taken with the lens, but we take a conservative approach to our descriptions! Nikon AF Nikkor ED 300mm f4 autofocus prime lens, with front and rear caps. In good condition and in full working order, though the focus can be noisy (details below). Externally this lens is in very nice condition, with only light signs of use. The glass is also good, it's clean, clear and free of haze and fungus. There is one tiny mark on the front element, which doesn't affect image quality, and it's otherwise unmarked. As with any used lens, there are a few specks of internal dust. The aperture blades are excellent, they're clean and free of oil, the aperture ring clicks well through the stops and the iris is snappy. The AF servo motor can be noisy - sometimes the screw-drive gear makes a high-pitched noise when refocusing between near and far subjects (or vice versa). This is apparently a common problem on this lens, but it shouldn't affect performance. The autofocus is accurate, but the noise could be disturbing if, for example, you're photographing wildlife. In manual focus the gear will make a similar high-pitched noise if you focus quickly. For normal fine focusing it doesn't make this noise, you have to move the barrel quite quickly to provoke it. In any case, I have set a lower price to reflect the issue. The removable filter holder works well and the included Nikon L37c is in good condition, with minor signs of use. The built-in hood is slightly dented but also still works very well. When tested the lens produces sharp, contrasty images. I often have similar or compatible items for sale, see my shop for details. Here we have a beautiful example of Nikon's iconic fast fifty. This is the "S·C" version, which as far as I know was only made in the pre-Ai F mount. This lens does have an Ai mount, so it was presumably modified at some point: the conversion is expertly done, perhaps by Nikon itself (I think you could send in your pre-AI lenses for modification for a while). It will now work with modern Nikon SLRs and DSLRs.  Anyway, this lens is in excellent condition. Glass is clean and clear, no fungus, no haze. There is a tiny mark on the rear element (visible in the second photo) but otherwise the glass appears pristine and unmarked. Iris blades are clean and snappy. Aperture selector moves nicely, focus is even. Includes original front and rear caps (the classy old Nippon Kogaku type that feel like bakelite) and the lens's HS-1 hood.  Be sure to check out my other sales. Volna-9 50mm f2.8. Il s'agit de l'unique ancien objectif russe produit pour la photo macro. Ce 50mm s'allonge pour obtenir un rapport de grossissement 1:2 à 24cm. Il est réputé pour son piqué en fermant un peu (ce qui est normal pour un macro) et pour son bokeh original: à f2.8 le bokeh est plutôt doux (en proxy), à f4 légèrement hexagonal, mais à f5.6/f8 il prend la forme d'une étoile.  Cet objectif est avant tout conçu pour photographie les plantes, les insectes et petits objets, mais il excelle aussi en portrait. En usage généraliste, il devient bon en fermant (homogène en paysage à f11). C'est un 50mm en plein format (75mm en APS-C, ce qui peut être encore plus intéressant en macro). Il est entièrement manuel. La monture m42 s'adapte sur les appareils photo numériques, en particulier les hybrides, avec une bague d'adaptation (pas cher sur internet). L'objectif est dans un excellent état extérieur et mécanique (comme neuf). Les optiques sont claires (à la loupe peut-être une minuscule marque à l'intérieur sans conséquences). Il a très peu servi. Il est complet avec son capuchon frontal, sa boîte d'origine (il se visse sur le couvercle) et même les instructions...  en russe ! ----------------------- Volna-9 50mm f2.8. This is the only old Russian lens produced for macro photography. This 50mm extends to a magnification ratio of 1:2 at 24cm. It is known for its sharpness when closing a little (which is normal for a macro) and for its original bokeh: at f2.8 the bokeh is rather smooth (in proxy), at f4 slightly hexagonal, but at f5.6/f8 it takes the shape of a star.  This lens is primarily designed to photograph plants, insects and small objects, but it also excels in portrait. In general use, it becomes good when closed (homogeneous in landscape at f11). It is a 50mm in full frame (75mm in APS-C, which can be even more interesting in macro). It is entirely manual. The m42 mount fits on digital cameras, especially mirrorless, with an adapter ring (cheap on the internet). The lens is in excellent external and mechanical condition (like new). The optics are clear (with a magnifying glass maybe a tiny mark inside without consequences). It has been used very little. It is complete with its front cap, its original box (it is screwed on the lid) and even the instructions... in Russian !
