X-RARE JVC MF-55LS Hi-Fi 3 IN 1 Music System This is a fantastic audio system from 1971 made by JVC in Japan. The cassette deck section is a one motor unit with mechanically controlled transport. It has manual EQUALIZER and BIAS selection for Normal, Fe-Cr and Chrome tapes. Recording level is manually adjustable with two needle type VU meters. ​Instead of Dolby noise reduction this unit uses a JVC proprietary noise reduction system, the ANRS (Automatic Noise Reduction System) and the Super ANRS. The turntable section is a belt drive manual unit with S tonearm and a JVC cartridge. The radio section uses a beautiful tuning scale that stretches across the front edge of the unit. The amplifier delivers 25 W/channel @ 4 ohm. For an external source there is an auxiliary input at the back and there is provision for two sets of loudspeakers, one set for DIN plugs and the other one for bare wire. Sony PS-X70 (1978-1979) Stereo Turntable System Fully Automatic Direct Drive READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY ! This turntable belonged to my father, he bought it in the early 80s. I had to disassemble a wooden cabinet to take it out, and it probably saved it from the dump. It's in fully working condition, I've been using it a little for the past years, with an amplifier (also for sale, check my items) and a pair of speakers from the same era. You can see it in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oKFJ5RfOVE Turntable is perfectly silent, stroboscope is steady at both 33 and 45 RPM, disc format selector and pitch potentiometer works as intended, as well as all the settings to adjust the position and balance of the arm. /!/ I'm not sure if the lever to lower the arm works 100% properly, after a long period without using the turntable, the arm takes a while to go down (works perfectly to raise the arm however) /!/ /!/ The phono cable is old and the housing is a little damaged, still works perfectly but a purist may want to replace it /!/ A few marks here and here but overall in excellent cosmetic condition. The transparent top case is in good condition and stays up as intended by the hinges. The turntable is 100% genuine, apart from the needle that I changed a few years ago by a cheap one but wich works well. It's sold with the genuine owner's manual in english, french, german and spanish languages (almost impossible to find nowadays). It also comes with the genuine aluminium adaptor for 45T discs. I also give a few accessories with it: - a carbon fiber cleaner to clean the dust from discs - a tiny spirit level to check the level of the turntable - a small brush to clean the needle (Sony brand, vintage) - the needle that was installed on the arm when I found the turntable (not in good condition, just for reference) The turntable weights aproximately 13kg. This unit is a type of preamplifier in that you canuse it to control the volume from line input devices like CD players, tuners,tape decks, etc.  It also has a graphic equalizer with 5 memory settings and you can control all the frequencies of the EQ from the remote control whichis something I have not seen before.  You can switch to a real time spectrum analyzer display which will move to the music.   Other features include JVC's SEA "acoustic expander" which does exactly what you'd expect.  The EQ has 5 memory settings and a reverse setting aswell which instantly give you the exact opposite eq curve.   Allbuttons, controls, features, and display are working correctly.  Shows very little wear. All buttons on remote are working correctly- the remote can control other JVC components as well.    On the back are three line inputs- one labelled Audio, one labelled Video 1, and one labelled Video 2/3.  Youcould use these inputs for a tuner, a CD deck, and a tape deck.  There are also two sets of stereo outputs.  In order to use the EQ and graphic display and volume control all at the same time you need to loop the outputlabelled "Line Out" into the "Remote Contro In"-  am including the JVC instruction book and the original remote controller for this purpose. At the end of a record's side (which is sensed optically), the arm lifts and returns to its rest and the motor shuts off. The platter, which weighs 3-3/4 pounds including its thick rubber mat, is belt-driven from a tiny, flat, disc-shaped motor. The motor's speed is electronically controlled by a quartz-crystal reference oscillator and a microprocessor. In addition, a second control loop measures the platter's speed with an optical sensor and corrects the motor speed as required to maintain the correct playing speed. Unlike almost all other currently available record players, the Dual CS 5000 operates at 78 rpm as well as 33% and 45 rpm. The tonearm of the CS 5000 is designed to minimize many of the recognized weaknesses of typical pivoted tonearms. It is supported by gimbal pivots for both axes of motion and operates at all times in a fully balanced state (the downward tracking force is supplied by a coiled spring). Dual points out that the arm-support system eliminates any need for critical leveling of the turntable, which can in theory be operated at almost any angle to the horizontal. Another potential problem, warp wow, is a common result of playing a warped record with a tonearm whose vertical pivot is located above the record's plane. The combination causes a periodic fore-to-aft shift of the stylus as the arm travels over the warp and superimposes a frequency modulation (wow) on the program. The Dual CS 5000's tonearm has its vertical pivot in the plane of the record, which reduces warp wow to its lowest possible level. The slim, tubular-aluminum tonearm has a removeable head-shell featuring Dual's adjustable vertical tracking angle (VTA). The cartridge can be tilted by a knob on top of the shell, varying the VTA over a ± 5-degree range. A critical listener can do this by ear, and Dual also recommends VTA settings for a number of popular cartridges. The tracking-force and antiskating controls are on the tonearm's pivot structure, near the arm rest and cueing-lift lever. Most turntables, including the CS 5000, have platters that are designed to concentrate their mass around the outer edge, where it contributes the most to the inertia of the system. These platters resemble a shallow bell, and they usually ring like one when struck or otherwise excited mechanically, a characteristic that can color or muddy the reproduced sound. The platter of the CS 5000 features a unique damping system to eliminate such resonance.
