A vintage solid brass cast door knocker in the form of a sailing galleon ship under sail.  This type of door knocker was very popular from the 1950s onwards as Austerity was ending after the war and people sought to improve their door furniture.  This door knocker is not marked with a manufacturers details but is typical of the period.  This is door knocker which is cast with its own striker plate is a particularly good example as it is well cast from a high grade brass that weighs 364g and is 14.5 cm in height x 11 cm in width   This door knocker is a larger example and is quite simple in that it carries no words such as Mayflower, Golden Hind, Victory, 16th Century Galleon or other inference such as nationality on the sails.  It is simply a door Galleon door knocker.  The Galleon has a smooth nicely polished surface and would ideally suit a period property in a seaside location.    SEE PICTURES see pictures before purchase ************************************  In the shop you will find a variety of items, some new, some used a little and some lovely vintage finds.  Sizing differs from brand to brand and some items have the wrong size label.
