As you may know, Orville was a brand of guitars run by the Gibson Guitar Corporation for the Japanese domestic market during the late 1980s and most of the 1990s. The guitars were designed to the highest standards, mimicking to perfection the most valuable Gibson guitars. Though they were not initially made for export, second hand Orvilles have since travelled the world, and because of their rarity have gained a cult-like following over the years. This is one is among the earliest Orvilles from 1989, as evidenced by the K-09 serial sticker on the back of the headstock, and is a great exemple of the exceptional japanese crafstmanship of the era. The guitar is in very nice shape, with the patina of a well cared for 30+ year old guitar: there's tarnishing on the gold pickups and hardware, some tiny marks here and there that I tried my best to photograph, but overall a very well preserved instrument. Neck is arrow straight and true with low action, fret job is flawless. A real easy player. It is also a light and resonant one, with a weight of only 3.82 kg measured on a digital scale (that's 8.42 lbs). Rings out clearly unplugged, sounds amazing plugged in.
