RICHARD WAGNER LETTER BAYREUTH 1872 AUTOGRAPH FESTIVAL BAYRE À GALGAN
RICHARD WAGNER HAND WRITTEN AND SIGNED LETTER 1872 (september, 19th) BAYREUTH TO HIS PUBLISHER FRITZSCH UNIQUE DOCUMENT Letter n. 6266 in the general catalogue of all letters by Wagner (Wagner Briefe Verzeichnis, Wiesbaden, Breitkopf & Härtel, 1998) Important letter : Wagner tells very precisely how he wants his complete literary works to be edited, by Fritzsch, and indicates that he is going to settle down in the city (in Bayreuth, at last !) ; this detail allowed the searchers to find the exact date of the letter, although Wagner, in his haste, only mentioned the day of the week and the month, which is very rare, even unique in his whole correspondance ; on the obverse, written in pencil (absolute rarity, very well preserved !), a reference by Wagner to a score promised by Fritzsch, but that he still has not received ; being the godfather of Fritzsch’s son, Wagner declares with humour that having forgotten won’t bring Fritzsch « any blessing » !
