LIVRE/BOOK: BIJOUX DE RAYMOND C. YARD (ART DECO EN FRANCE
Yard - The Life and Magnificent Jewelry of Raymond C. Yard 223 pages Color photos Hard cover 29 x 29 cm 1,826 kg English A classic rags-to-riches tale, Raymond C. Yard began his career in the jewelry business in 1898 as a door boy at Marcus & Co., and was encouraged by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., to open his own company; shortly Yard was creating jewels for the Woolworth, DuPont, and Vanderbilt families. As seen in this handsomely produced book, the creations of Yard and his company were characterized by quality gems, intricate settings, and a sly sense of whimsy. The more than 300 photographs here include images—often posed in carefully staged tableaux—of a dazzling diamond and platinum hummingbird pin; a matching set of yellow diamond earclips and brooch in the form of leaping salmon; and a trio of jewel-encrusted brooches shaped like rabbit-headed waiters.
