The Michael Jackson Company LLC partnered with Cirque du Soleil in order to create “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour" after it was reported that Michael Jackson had been a fan of the performance empire’s many shows and had wanted to collaborate with it before his death in 2009. Written and directed by Jamie King, the show began its tour on October 2, 2011, in Montreal. After touring North America for one year, Immortal continued through Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East before returning to North America in February 2014 for a total of 501 shows from 141 cities.
