How it works? I just copy/paste the explanation of the seller below : -This adapter lets you mount Mamiya NC1000 Sears Auto CS 1000MXB lens onto Fuji X FX mount cameras. Sample rear of the lens is attached. This adapter has the aperture control ring. If you are new to CS series of lens, please read the following. 1. Please place your Aperture ring in Red dot  (Auto) on the lens. 2. If you observe from the back, pressing one pin lowers aperture and also pushes other pin out. 3. Cette bague ne possède pas de lentille interne et elle permet la mise au point à l'infini. Objectif au piqué et contraste de haut vol Il est adapté à TOUS BOÎTIERS REFLEX Canon ARGENTIQUES OU NUMÉRIQUES L'adaptation de l'objectif sur un BOÎTIER Canon EOS s'effectue grâce à la bague d'adaptation M42 EOS QUE JE FOURNIS, CONTRAIREMENT AUX AUTRES VENDEURS. La bague est sans contacts électroniques (donc pas de confirmation de l'AF sur les EOS bas de gamme), mais à f/2.8, la netteté est parfaitement appréciable dans le viseur ET vous disposez d'une échelle de profondeur de champ sur l'objectif. Cette bague ne possède pas de lentille interne et elle permet la mise au point à l'infini. Elle est amovible, vous pouvez la fixer à tout autre objectif m42 que vous souhaitez utiliser avec votre DSLR ou reflex argentique Canon.   ATTENTION: pas d'autofocus: on fait la mise au point à la main. Compatibilité totale, mise au point et diaphragme réglés manuellement. C’est un objectif manuel: vous réglez seul la mise au point et le diaphragme. Une petite recherche sur le Net vous prouvera que l'ancêtre a de beaux restes.  Pour l'utiliser, il suffit de viser à pleine ouverture ou à diaphragme réel, diaphragme que vous pilotez depuis la bague de l'objectif. Ce dispositif fonctionne en mode M, et priorité diaphragme. La mise au point est très simple: mon neveu de 10 ans s'en sort parfaitement ! 29mm en 24x36 (soit l'équivalent d'un 45mm sur le capteur 1,6x des boîtiers EOS à petit capteur). Focale idéale pour le portrait, le reportage, la photo d'architecture, le paysage, la photographie de nature, pour le sport, les salles de concert, les portraits en intérieur mais aussi toute situation nécessitant un objectif rapide (sport, basse lumière, flou...) Il permet le plus souvent de se passer de l'éclair de flash qui gâcherait vos images! Ce 28mm dispose de très bonnes qualités optiques avec une distorsion nulle DES LA PLEINE OUVERTURE et un piqué appréciable, dès f/4 il touche des sommets !
