Ancienne Poupée Kokeshi Tsuchiyu artisanale traditionnelle japonaise en bois massif réalisée dans les années 1960's à la main et signée. État: bon. Petites traces de chocs et de rayures (voir photos) Dimensions (approximatives): hauteur 24 cm - diamètre de la tête 6/7 cm - diamètre corps (à la base) 4 cm - poids 210 grammes. Originaires principalement de la région du nord du Japon, les kokeshi sont des poupées représentant des petites filles, sculptées sur bois. Elles sont ensuite décorées à la main et laquées par les artisans. Les poupées kokeshi apportent traditionnellement la prospérité (bonnes récoltes, fertilité...), la protection (contre les mauvais esprits, les incendies, les tremblements de terre, les maladies, etc..) et le bonheur à ceux qui les possèdent. C'est aussi devenu un cadeau pour célébrer une naissance, pour montrer son amitié ou son amour. Les poupées kokeshi sont fabriquées dans toute la région du Tôhoku, mais les trois principaux centres de production sont ceux de Naruko (situé à Ôsaki), de Tôgatta (situé à Zaô), et de Tsuchiyu. Elles sont en général classées en douze grands types en fonction entre autres de leur forme, de leur décor, des techniques mises en œuvre pour leur réalisation et de leur provenance. Pendant la seconde moitié de l’époque d’Edo (1603-1868), les sources thermales (onsen) du Tôhoku étaient surtout fréquentées par des paysans venus s’y détendre après la période épuisante des travaux des champs. Les artisans spécialisés dans la fabrication d’objets en bois et de kokeshi ont été sollicités par ces visiteurs en quête de souvenirs à ramener chez eux et dès lors, ils se sont mis à peindre leurs créations, jusque-là en simple bois blanc. S’ils ont utilisé aussi souvent le rouge, c’est parce que cette couleur traditionnellement de bon augure avait la réputation de tenir à l’écart les esprits malfaisants et les maladies telles que la variole qui sévissaient à l’époque. Revigorés par les eaux bienfaisantes des sources chaudes, les paysans retournaient dans leur village avec une poupée kokeshi censée leur assurer de bonnes récoltes. Et s’ils en rapportaient une comme jouet à leurs enfants, c’était avec l’espoir qu’elle leur permettrait de grandir en bonne santé.
