While pretty good in its original form, iBasso engineers did cut some corners and the player does not reach its full potential. As such, the player has been extensively modified in order to improve performance:  - power supply and DAC stages have been redesigned in order to reduce the overall distortions and noise level, in particular at lower frequency where the original suffers the most (around 5dB THD+N improvement at 1KHz, 30dB (!) improvement at 20Hz)  - output buffering stage has been modified in order to improve performance with lower impedance earphones (with 16ohm load THD+N is improved by approx. 30dB) Measurements with a professional audio analyzer show that the modified player is reaching excellent performance under real life test conditions (line out: -105dB THD+N across pretty much most of the audible frequency spectrum, headphone out: -102dB THD+N while delivering 500mVrms under a 16ohm load).
