Whatever the motivation, software has to be a more economical option for a developer, even if, as in the case of Neuron VS, the software comes with a hardware controller. Tooling up for a rack Neuron, on the other hand, would have produced another mega-thousand-pound product. Refreshing The Neurons The original Neuron created quite a stir when it was announced by promising a new approach to synthesis and sound creation, and anyone who heard one, as I did while attending the Frankfurt Music Fair during its launch year, couldn't ignore the range and volume of sounds it produced. I was continuously reminded of the Neuron's impact as it swooped and roared in the background of an interview that I recorded at that show. Now the attractive concept of running that technology from your computer desktop has created a stir of its own. The Neuron VS package consists of two parts, one hardware and one software (as this review was approaching completion, a second software component, Modelmaker, was added to the bundle — see the boxout for more on this). The hardware element is the USB-driven Nuke remote control unit, which offers a single stick controller — the X-Y joystick, of which there are four on the original Neuron keyboard — and four assignable continuous controllers. Neuron VS, the software component, is essentially the synth engine from the original Neuron in plug-in form. Obviously, the keyboard version has the advantage of its own dedicated hardware, so its performance is not dependent on the power of your CPU or the amount of RAM you have installed, as is the case with Neuron VS. The keyboard version also offers surround-sound audio compatibility, future plans for audio-input processing and four-part multitimbrality. But the rest remains largely the same. In a typical computer-based recording environment, many of the audio sources (keyboards, sound modules, drum machines, effects devices, and the like) require little or no processing "after the fact;" that is, they don't necessarily need to have their tone, volume, or pan positions controlled at the mixer level. Rather, these functions can be performed by the device itself via internal settings or in response to MIDI commands. In that scenario, all that's required of the mixer is that it provide a means for the audio from the device to be brought into the main mix. The EZbus was designed to accommodate a large number of audio sources, not all of which would necessarily need to have their individual tone, volume, and pan positions controlled at the mixer level. On EZbus analog inputs 5, 6, 7, and 8, three input jacks (labeled A, B, and C) are provided for each input. The 3 jacks in each channel are summed (and electronically buffered), allowing you to connect up to 3 audio sources to a single input. You could, for example, bring the signals from 6 synthesizers into inputs 5A, 5B, 5C, 6A, 6B, and 6C. You could then bring the stereo returns from three outboard effects devices, for example, into inputs 7A and 8A for effect #1, 7B and 8B for effect #2, and 7C and 8C for effect #3. Altogether, that's 12 audio signals brought into the EZbus using only 4 audio channels. Through the analog inputs, you can bring 16 signals into the EZbus; 4 additional signals from the digital inputs can be routed to the Mix bus or Alt bus via the 4 "virtual" returns. In this manner, you can bring a total of 20 signals into the EZbus. At a minimum, you can bring 8 signals into the EZbus, each of which can be independently processed with EQ and dynamics. It features  two balanced microphone inputs  with high quality preamps,  phantom power and 3-band EQ with +/-15 dB adjustment scope, two stereo line inputs with 2-band EQ, which are mono-compatible, and an effects loop. The master section of the VIBZ 6 D is equipped with  adjustable monitor outputs, a headphone jack and 16 digital effects presets, which are foot-switchable. The mixer also has inputs and outputs for recording and playback devices, is extremely easy to use and offers a warm differentiated sound. The external power supply can be screwed on tightly. A foot switch for the effects section and an adapter for mounting the VIBZ 6 D on microphone stands are available as accessories. The MP 2500 R has the same overall design philosophy and technical facilities like the smaller MP 2000 R MK II player. Both have been developed to reproduce high-res audio files without any trace of compromise. Instead of a CD mechanism T+A have equipped the MP 2500 R with the SACD drive from T+A's High-End SACD player MP 3100 HV which is a completely new development.  As in the MP 2000 R MK II, PCM data is converted using T+A's outstanding double differential quadruple converter with all it‘s sophisticated digital signal processing. DSD data are handled by the unique analogue T+A true 1-bit DSD converter from the PDP 3000 HV, which processes the DSD data in native form as a bitstream rather than converting them. Neumann KM 84 Small Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone. The Neumann KM 84 i and KM 84, a classic small diaphragm FET condenser microphone, is the result of a visit to Norwegian State Television by Neumann engineers in the mid-1960s. NST wanted smaller, transistor-based microphones for a new studio but needed these microphones to run off of their central 48V DC power system rather than 12V T-Power. Neumann's engineers devised a plan for powering a microphone in this way and a major innovation, which we now know as phantom power, was born. The KM 84 i and KM 84 uses the KK 64 capsule from the tube-amplified KM 64 microphone.
