RARE VELVET UNDERGROUND NICO ORIGINAL 1967 STEREO W/ EMERSON À CHÂTELAILLON PLAGE
Artist: Velvet Underground & Nico Produced by Andy Warhol. Label: Verve V6-5008 Stereo USA 1967 Original Release. This is an original 1967 east coast stereo press with the unaltered "Emerson torso" image on the sleeve. This version, with the picture of Eric Emerson on the back of the sleeve, is VERY RARE as not many copies of this version were sold to the public. The reason for this is that shortly after it went on sale, Eric Emerson sued Verve records for using his image without his consent. As a result, Verve records recalled all the copies of the album which had not yet sold and re-released it with a modified sleeve, at first with the big black sticker covering the Emerson image, then with a modified version of the sleeve with Emerson airbrushed out of the photo. Most versions of this album that you see on sale, from late 1967 onwards, have the modified sleeve without Emerson's torso on the back. That's what makes this version so rare.
