This rate was one of 8 up to 1949 that was in the Seaman Branch of the U.S. Navy. They all wore their rating badge on the right sleeve. In 1949 all 8 rates moved their rating badge from the right sleeve to the left. The cleaning tag on the jumper did not come about until the 60's. Beautiful American jacket US NAVY.
