F.U.2 - Punk Rock - Les Tréteaux - LP6389 - France - 1977 Vinyl have a few light airlines, light marks, but don't affect playing!!!.No pop or noisy!!! Cover have a small damage on a corners, little folds, wears or stains front/back. Original French Pressing!!!!...Rare!! *VINYL: VG+ *COVER: VG(VG+) From the liner notes of F.U.2 - Punk Rock, 2012 Reissue of the Album originally release in 1977.  F.U.2 - The Myth and the Legend by Terry Clemson aka Terry Gibson  "F.U.2, the album, has for many years been the subject of much speculation. Some refer to it as the "Secret Downliners Sect Album". It really never was........  Many theories and stories of how it came about have circulated over the years...  How it actually came about was thanks to a record producer friend of mine, Eddie Bourne. Eddie was asked to produce a Punk album, by a band called The Vacants. At the time Eddie felt the band needed augmenting for recording purposes, so he asked me to play guitar on the session...  Following on the back of the relative success of The Vacants album, I pursuaded Eddie to allow me to record a Punk album under the name F.U.2.  It all started out as a bit of a joke really. It was late 1970's that me and Keith Grant (2), of the Downliners Sect, set about to write the songs. Some of these we already had in the can that we thought would fit the bill, like "Out Of School", "Playin' My Guitar" which incidentally were later to appear on the Sects 'Showbiz' album. It wasn't long before ten other songs had been assembled and were ready to take into the studio.  As a band F.U.2 obviously never existed, so Keith and I enlisted musician friends to play on the session. Paul Holm was on drums, Robin Langridge on keyboards. Don Craine on rhythm guitar and Paul Tiller on blues harp were also co-opted to play on a couple of tracks. The only reason we co-opted Don and Paul Tiller into the session wasn't to make it a "secret Sect album" but merely to give them a few pounds in session money. ...The whole album was recorded and mixed in a day".  Art Less (Arthur Keith Evans / Keith Grant) - bass, lead vocals  Terry Deville (Terry Clemson / Terry Gibson) - lead guitar, vocals  Rob Groan (Robin Langridge) - keyboards  Clay Stone (Paul Holm) - drums  Special Guests  Mad Mick (Michael O'Donnell / Don Craine) - rhythm guitar  Paul Tone (Paul Tiller) - harmonica

Je vous propose une rareté, qui vient de la collection prestigieuse d'un professionnel de la musique pop américaine. Elliott was born Irwin Elliott Zucker in Hartford, Connecticut. He was of Romanian Jewish descent.[1] Elliott graduated from the Hartt School of Music and worked as a jazz pianist in New York and Paris in the 1950s.[2][3] He continued his post-graduate studies in composition with Arnold Franchetti, Isadore Freed, Bohuslav Martinů, and Lukas Foss, but it was Judy Garland who brought Elliott to California to become an arranger for her television show. Elliott continued his run in television as music director for Andy Williams' long-running series and later produced and conducted the NBC television special Live From Studio 8H: 100 Years of America's Popular Music. He also wrote themes for television shows Night Court, and co-wrote the themes to Barney Miller and Charlie's Angels with Allyn Ferguson. He is listed in New Grove's Dictionary of American Music and was awarded an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music. Elliott was co-founder and music director of the American Jazz Philharmonic (formerly the New American Orchestra)[4] and creator of the Henry Mancini Institute.[5] The original name of the Orchestra was b'"'The Big Ob'"' and was the largest jazz orchestra of its kind featuring over 92 musicians. Elliott blended the classical European style orchestra with modern American jazz style. His professional repertoire was diverse, highlighted by stints as music director for the Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Kennedy Center Honors and the 1984 Summer Olympics. In addition, he holds the distinction of serving as music director of the Grammy Awards for 30 consecutive years. He had an accomplished career in film, scoring numerous hit movies, including Sibling Rivalry, The Jerk, Oh God!, and Where's Poppa?. He also produced the Blade Runner soundtrack album with the New American Orchestra, and composed the song b'"'It's So Nice to Have a Man Around the Houseb'"' in 1950, made famous by Dinah Shore. He was among the earliest tenor players to adapt the bebop musical language of people such as Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell to the instrument. His studio and live performance career spanned over 40 years. Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant". He played a Conn 10M Lady Face until 1964. He lost the instrument in a Paris hotel. He then switched over to a Selmer Mark VI. His saxophone was fitted with an Otto Link metal mouthpiece, which can be seen in various photos. Dexter Gordon was named a member and officer of the French Order of Arts and Letters in 1986 by the Ministry of Culture in France. His performance in Round Midnight (Warner Bros, 1986) was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Leading Role and he won a Grammy for Best Soundtrack. Dexter Gordon died on April 25, 1990, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.................... On peut en deduire que Barclays et Atlantic ont pu etre à cours de pochette mono pour l'export du mono et qu'ils ont utilisés des pochettes stereo en dépannage...Quoiqu'il en soit le disque est bien mono avec les bons numeros sur le runout(voir paragraphe du dessous) Vinyl Record: VG ++, plays excellent, great audio with a few light crackling at some point, in the quiet passage The sleeve is G, VG with  wear large enough, small stains inside the gotefold, wear at the corners...glue stain marks on the back, etc (see pictures) Original Atlantic inner sleeve in about VG conditions(wear on the opening of the inner sleeve) Please, note an official Special stickers " mono" glued on the back. The sleeve is a stereo sleeve, however the record is well a mono..(numbers on runout) imported from US by Barclay (see sticker inside gatefold) may be the correct sleeve (mono) wasn't available at this time and Barclays - Atlantixc have furnished a stereo sleeve. That's interesting, indeed this freejazz record has knew a great succes at the departure and mono sleeve could be missing....  -------------------------------------------------------------- Notes FREE JAZZ was recorded in one uninterrupted "take" of 36 minutes 23 seconds. This performance by Ornette Coleman's Double Quartet is heard exactly as it was performed in the studio, without any splicing or editing. Side One ends with a quick fade-out, and the music resumes with a minimum of interruption on Side Two. On stereo Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Scott LaFaro and Billy Higgins are heard on the left channel, Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell are heard right. The similar development of  road racing in Europe  had taken place years before my time and was already well-developed when y interest in the sport began.  The stories behind the great European races  enthralled me, even though they were history, but in  America the similar, often troubled beginnings of the  sport, happened during my life-time. My thirst for more knowledge of these events was insatiable, but hampered by a severe lack of readily available information. In retrospect, the  European press belittled American motor race   events  and considered them unimportant. Even the major motor races in the  USA, some of which pre-dated many great European events, were virtually ignored.

Auteur Mick Walsh Éditeur Porter Press Date de parution 2018 Format 23x28 cm ISBN 9781907085444 Illustration 300 Nombre de pages 320 Langue Anglais Etat Neuf Reliure Couverture rigide This book tells the remarkable history of an Alfa Romeo Monza and its characterful drivers and owners, some with life stories worthy of a movie script. Built in 1933, ‘221130’ was raced that year by the Hon Brian Lewis and won the arduous Mannin Moar race on the Isle of Man. The car continued to be raced until the war by John Cobb (1934), Luis Fontes (1935), Anthony Powys-Lybbe (1936–37) and Fay Taylour (1938), at venues as diverse as Vila Real (Portugal) and Phoenix Park (Ireland). Post-war, it passed through several significant collectors to arrive at its status today as one of the more important surviving Monzas, and a car with so much charisma and historic interest that it is a most worthy addition to the acclaimed ‘Great Cars’ series. Key content • The 1933 season with the Hon Brian Lewis, including wins on début at Brooklands and in its next race, the Mannin Moar, plus sixth place in the Nice Grand Prix. • Bought in 1934 by John Cobb (later to become notable for speed record-breaking on land and water) and raced both by him and Charlie Dodson, who finished second in the Mannin Moar. • Another new owner for 1935, Luis Fontes (something of a ‘wild man’ who also raced aeroplanes) took the car back to the Mannin Moar, where he finished third, and won the Limerick Grand Prix. • The period with Anthony Powys-Lybbe (a fascinating character who was extensively involved with Alfa Romeos) brought more good results, especially in Ireland, with second places in the Cork Grand Prix in 1936 and 1937. • More racing at Brooklands in 1938 with Fay Taylour (a champion speedway rider whose Fascist links led to her internment during the Second World War). • Post-war, a succession of notable owners included Peter Hampton, the Hon. Patrick Lindsay and Hubert Fabri, all passionate collectors and men of significance. • Nearly 300 period photographs, many previously unpublished, supported by a portfolio of commissioned special photography at Brooklands The author Mick Walsh’s passion for Alfa Romeo 8Cs was sparked aged 10, when the Hon. Patrick Lindsay, driving ‘221130’, blasted past his father’s car en route to VSCC Silverstone in 1967. As the long-serving Editor-in-Chief of Classic & Sports Car, Mick has driven and written about many great 8Cs, including co-driving a Touring Spider on the Monte Carlo Rallye Historique and testing a Monza in the Alps after the Klausen hillclimb. As organiser of the Louis Vuitton Concours and the Cartier Style et Luxe, he has created two 8C tributes where ‘221130’ was among the winners.

Davis would have been a perfect fit at Stax or Atlantic in the mid- to late '60s, but his recording career didn't get rolling until the early '70s, when his brand of gruff but passionate blues-based R&B was losing ground in favor of funkier sounds. And while producer Allen Orange consistently drew fine performances from Davis in the studio and gave him powerful and sympathetic backing, Orange's record labels (House of Orange and Seventy-Seven Records) didn't have much muscle in the marketplace. Davis recorded for other labels over the course of his career, including Ace and Luna, but they didn't fare much better with him than Orange's imprints, and Davis was little more than a cult figure when he died in 1984 at the age of 38. The Lost Soul Man collects 25 tracks Davis recorded during his tenure with Orange, and while the presence of repeated alternate takes and unreleased tracks that didn't get the studio polish they need dull the impact of this set just a bit, it's still a potent testament to his talents. At his best, Davis' singing suggests the cool passion of Bobby "Blue" Bland blended with the gritty fire of Wilson Pickett, and he's good enough to merit both comparisons; the slow slink of "I'm Gonna Change," the lover's regret of "I've Got to Pay the Price," the potent groove of "Ain't Worrying About Jody," and the primal shouter "Hot Buttered Love" are all stellar performances and leave no doubt this man could and should have had some hits under more favorable circumstances. While Charly's Sad Shades of Blue offers a broader portrait of Geater Davis' career, The Lost Soul Man does restore some of the man's best moments in the studio to circulation, and fans of great Southern soul will want to give this a thorough listen. ~ Mark Deming

Hello, Putting up for sale a New copy of Boogiepop at Dawn, it's a light novel by Kouhei Kadono which was a very popular book series in Japan back in the early 2000's which received manga, anime and live movie adaptations. I am the original owner, I bought the book way back in 2012 when it still wasn't too rare, but I never read it, it's been safely stored in a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Scientific Imagination: Case Studies by Gerald Holton New scientific ideas are subjected to an extensive process of evaluation and validation by the scientific community. Until the early 1980s, this process of validation was thought to be governed by objective criteria, whereas the process by which individual scientists gave birth to new scientific ideas was regarded as inaccessible to rational study. In this book Gerald Holton takes an opposing view, illuminating the ways in which the imagination of the scientist functions early in the formation of a new insight or theory. In certain crucial instances, a scientist adopts an explicit or implicit presupposition, or thema, that guides his work to success or failure and helps determine whether the new idea will draw acclaim or controversy. Using firsthand accounts gleaned from notebooks, interviews, and correspondence of such twentieth-century scientists as Einstein, Fermi, and Millikan, Holton shows how the idea of the scientific imagination has practical implications for the history and philosophy of science and the larger understanding of the place of science in our culture. The new introduction, "How a Scientific Discovery Is Made: The Case of High-Temperature Superconductivity," reveals the scientific imagination at work in current science, by disclosing the role of personal motivations that are usually hidden from scientific publications, and the lessons of the case for science policy today. Title: The Scientific Imagination: Case Studies Author: Gerald Holton Publisher: Cambridge University Press Publish date: 28-Mar-1978 / reprint 1988 No. of pages: 382 Format: Paperback Condition:   new

Warning! Unavailable until June 3rd LP vinyl in good used quality. Only  Used with high quality turntable. Cover in fairly good looking. Label: Nato ‎– NATO 95 Format:Vinyl, LP, Album Pays:France Date: 08 Mar 1984 Genre:Jazz Style:Free Improvisation "surfingtheodyssey":With a fabulous cover personally designed by the performer himself, this album is maybe the best way to get the heart of Lol Coxhill's soprano saxophone playing, Other players can have chiselled more a facade in the avant-garde by organizing concerts of saxophone of solo more firmly, but the lack of abstract continuity or a headquarter of the composition adds more that the eccentric just charm in this procedure. By titling both oblique events " deformed Recollections " and " later Developments, " Coxhill proves he knows what he makes and can be full of spirit. His saxophone is indeed a kind of center of personal rumination, the improvisations developing untidily, as if a conversation was rather in progress than just the thoughts of a musician. Coxhill proves adept at seeing the long range outcome of what he is doing as well as hearing instances where completely fast, the sometimes same of the changes radicals can be made with the push of a button and a slight change in embouchure. While Coxhill will doubt go down playing, and playing well at that, he early 80s was one of its best periods as a saxophonist of solo. This recording, made in before intimate Parisian guard the music place, is the pure cream.
