Il étudie la photographie auprès d'Auguste Belloc avant d'installer un studio de photographie à Alger au 7 de la rue Napoléon. Il est l’un des premiers photographes professionnels installés à Alger, avec Alary et Geiser Alary. Il déclare être membre de la Société française de photographie (SFP) dans une annonce parue dans Akhbar, le Journal de l'Algérie du 19 juillet 1863. Il réalise une série de portraits, de scènes et de types, sous l'intitulé "L’Algérie pittoresque". The pressure cylinder is connected and via mandet regulator and pressure gauge controllable outgoing pressure (IN KILOGRAMMES) readable for registration. J-Friends CD Collector japonais People of the World  Collector officiel (SRCL 4500). Voici un CD Maxi single du groupe japonais J-Friends, sorti le 16 janvier 1999 au Japon, contenant une chanson inédite de Michael Jackson. Cela n'est pas la première fois que le Roi de la Pop offrait un morceau au groupe J-Friends. En Février 1998, il leur avait déjà fait cadeau d'un titre magnifique, Children's Holiday. Cette fois-ci, c'est une chanson baptisée People Of The World que Michael a généreusement offerte aux J-Friends. Encore une fois, tous les bénéfices générés par ce morceau furent reversés à une fondation japonaise pour l'enfance. Et bien que People Of The World soit sorti en tirage limité, l'engouement du public japonais pour cette chanson a été fulgurant. L'opération fut un immense succès, tous les exemplaires du disque se vendant en un temps record. Il faut dire que, fidèle à son habitude, le Roi de la Pop n'avait pas négligé la production de cette chanson; il avait enregistré la version instrumentale à Los Angeles avec ses musiciens et ses choristes habituels (Jorge del Barrio, Paulinho Da Costa, Kevin Dorsey, Steve Porcaro...), il l'avait mixé avec le plus grand soin et, lorsque le moment fut venu d'enregistrer les voix en japonais, il supervisa personnellement l'interprétation des J-Friends en leur donnant des conseils très précis sur la manière dont ils devaient chanter. Sur le CD maxi single People Of The World, on peut ainsi découvrir la version instrumentale, entièrement produite et enregistrée par Michael à Los Angeles, et une version chantée par les J-Friends sous la direction de Michael. Il faut préciser que la version instrumentale de People Of The World comporte tout de même des choeurs américains (chantés par 45 personnes!), dirigé par le fameux Tom Bahler (She's Out Of My Life). Il est évident que le Roi de la Pop n'avait pas fait les choses à moitié. Il s'était impliqué dans cette chanson comme s'il allait l'utiliser sur son propre album. "Streets of Philadelphia" is a song written and performed by American rock musician Bruce Springsteen for the film Philadelphia (1993) starring Tom Hanks, an early mainstream film dealing with HIV/AIDS. Released as a single in 1994, the song was a hit in many countries, particularly in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, and Norway, where it topped the singles charts. In the United States, the single peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. The song received acclaim and went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song and four Grammy Awards: Song of the Year, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Vocal Performance, Solo, and Best Song Written Specifically for a Motion Picture or Television. In 2004, it finished at number 68 on AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs survey of top tunes in American cinema. Davis would have been a perfect fit at Stax or Atlantic in the mid- to late '60s, but his recording career didn't get rolling until the early '70s, when his brand of gruff but passionate blues-based R&B was losing ground in favor of funkier sounds. And while producer Allen Orange consistently drew fine performances from Davis in the studio and gave him powerful and sympathetic backing, Orange's record labels (House of Orange and Seventy-Seven Records) didn't have much muscle in the marketplace. Davis recorded for other labels over the course of his career, including Ace and Luna, but they didn't fare much better with him than Orange's imprints, and Davis was little more than a cult figure when he died in 1984 at the age of 38. The Lost Soul Man collects 25 tracks Davis recorded during his tenure with Orange, and while the presence of repeated alternate takes and unreleased tracks that didn't get the studio polish they need dull the impact of this set just a bit, it's still a potent testament to his talents. At his best, Davis' singing suggests the cool passion of Bobby "Blue" Bland blended with the gritty fire of Wilson Pickett, and he's good enough to merit both comparisons; the slow slink of "I'm Gonna Change," the lover's regret of "I've Got to Pay the Price," the potent groove of "Ain't Worrying About Jody," and the primal shouter "Hot Buttered Love" are all stellar performances and leave no doubt this man could and should have had some hits under more favorable circumstances. While Charly's Sad Shades of Blue offers a broader portrait of Geater Davis' career, The Lost Soul Man does restore some of the man's best moments in the studio to circulation, and fans of great Southern soul will want to give this a thorough listen. ~ Mark Deming

Some refer to it as the "Secret Downliners Sect Album". It really never was........  Many theories and stories of how it came about have circulated over the years...  How it actually came about was thanks to a record producer friend of mine, Eddie Bourne. Eddie was asked to produce a Punk album, by a band called The Vacants. At the time Eddie felt the band needed augmenting for recording purposes, so he asked me to play guitar on the session...  Following on the back of the relative success of The Vacants album, I pursuaded Eddie to allow me to record a Punk album under the name F.U.2.  It all started out as a bit of a joke really. It was late 1970's that me and Keith Grant (2), of the Downliners Sect, set about to write the songs. Some of these we already had in the can that we thought would fit the bill, like "Out Of School", "Playin' My Guitar" which incidentally were later to appear on the Sects 'Showbiz' album. It wasn't long before ten other songs had been assembled and were ready to take into the studio.  As a band F.U.2 obviously never existed, so Keith and I enlisted musician friends to play on the session. Paul Holm was on drums, Robin Langridge on keyboards. Don Craine on rhythm guitar and Paul Tiller on blues harp were also co-opted to play on a couple of tracks.
